Tools
I used Game Maker for my game, mostly because it's my "old reliable".

Lessons
It turned out my "simple" idea for this year had a much bigger scope than I anticipated. I've caught up with some of the latest features in Game Maker, such as access to the depth and stencil buffers. I've also solved some longstanding problems I had: maze generation, autotiling at runtime, irregular collision shapes, and the weirdness with alpha blending on surfaces.

nice graphics and nice atmosphere in general, the card system is very interesting and deserves to continue to dig into this gameplay...it makes you want to think about it

It’s incredible you made all this in 14 days! Really well done!

Solid rpg mechanics with huge variety for the given timeframe! All around great entry. My only feedback would be to have the enemies attack in rapid succession or all at once, since they're all targeting the same character / hp pool.

Really enjoyed this one! I was always curious to try out every card to see what it would do. One thing I will say, though, is that I often found myself deciding which card to get rid of to make space for one I haven't tried yet. One suggestion I have to fix this is making the cards consumable, and possibly making the player's inventory bigger. Another small note I have is that I really feel like you could add some spice to the enemy animations! Maybe a slight bounce for the slimes, or flapping wings for bats. These are just suggestions I thought would help to make the game a little bit more interesting. Super neat game, great job!

Thanks for playing! Having more animations was in the original plan and I really wanted to put them , but they had to be cut due to time constraints. Also, rebalancing the game is something I’m planning on doing after the jam.

This is a great entry! The combat system is quite unique & engaging. The visuals & audio are well done. I did encounter a small bug after dying where your cards & health are not reset.

Really cool! Run out of HP eventually.

I really enjoyed the game; it's fantastic overall! While the pace is a bit slower than I prefer, the experience is still very engaging. One area that could use improvement is the collision detection for picking up items. It currently feels a bit too precise.

Cool game. More health potions would have been nice. I played a couple games and both times eventually ran in to the situation where I was low on health and didn't have enough health potions. Though maybe I did too much exploring and not enough heading for the exit.

Thanks for playing! I know there are a few things that need rebalancing, like the variation in distance between the player and exit is way too large. Adding more health potions may help, I’m already thinking of a bunch of ideas for a post-jam update.
