The pixel art is cool in this! Good job getting all the sounds together with the puzzle mechanics too!
I really liked the animation and music. I think this is a very impressive project as the first project not following a tutorial. I also would not at all beat yourself up for having to look things up. More than coding, understanding how to research a topic and distill the relevant knowledge into your application is a valuable skill. So I would congratulate yourself for diving into the unknown and learning something new.
I ran into an issue where I was moving at mach speed in the 2nd room template and this would allow me to clip through the wall sometimes. But not a huge issue.
Excellent job!
I hope you will continue to develop this game according to your outline after the voting is done. I look forward to seeing Smoglu grow up, and hopefully we can meet his parents, too!
I'm scared to ask, but what does Smoglu do with all the numbers later? There was a possibilty to leave the bounds of the level in the upper screen, but the game continued if you left at the right spot nevertheless. Smoglu looks really scary, very well done.
All the stars.
I used to write little web games for my kids during the pandemic and they were 1st graders at the time.
Dunno if I made a "which number is greater" game or not, but I did make some addition and subtraction ones. Mine were straight html5 using buttons.
I notice a small glitch on the room with the exit to the left, where I could go through the block above the exit and go off into infinity. Prolly a hitbox thing.
Anyway, delightful little game and suitable for its intended audience.
All game should have burping sounds.
