Enjoyable game!  Loved the sound effects and chill music.  It sounds like you varied the frequency of the mining sounds for the different materials.  Great work! The mining targeting system itself was a little fiddly and I often found myself digging 4-5 blocks ahead of me, even if there were blocks right in front of me to break.  Especially when digging at a diagonal. Regarding the design, it was simple, but worked great for this type of game. I loved the sprites you created for the work bench and furnace.  I would change the outline color of the character so he stands out more from the sky background.

On a side note, I wish I was able to decide how much ore to smelt instead of the furnace just grabbing what I had.

Great job on this!

Nice game! I would have been interesting if it was required to use the crafting table, especially early on so you can know there are other things to help you out. Since it wasn't required, I didn't visit until more than halfway through the game and didn't really bother with the Quality of Life stuff it provided. I also wasn't really sure what some of the items did in the crafting table, so it would have been nice to have a name and/or description for each item. I think requiring the player to use the crafting table instead of "just keep upgrading your pickaxe" would have made the game feel more dynamic and less grindy. The game is cool, don't get me wrong, but I kind of got tired of doing the same "find ore, extract ore, smelt ore, upgrade pick axe, repeat until you get the sun orbs". Audio was great! Didn't get tired of it. Happy that you added a end state! Nicely done.

Thanks for the feedback! I plan to expand on the game in the future so these kinds of comments are extremely helpful to me :)

Oh man I just spent like 30 minutes playing this, it was a lot of fun. Loved the progression and amazed by how many different mechanics you managed to get into the game in just a week. Was super relaxing and a really great experience. I think a nice background would've added a lot, since after a while, you've mined out so much that the game feels really dark. Really well done!

Also curious what was added in the "post-jam" release. I played the initial release so I could give accurate ratings based on what was accomplished during the jam, and I'm just wondering what got added in the next build :) Might go back and play it some more

No new content, just made some elements a little more intuitive. Glad to hear you enjoyed the game though! :D

Neat game! Reminds me a bit of Terraria. I'm impressed you were able to get so many mechanics done in a single week. Movement felt great, but occasionally the game would freeze for a frame or 2. I couldn't pinpoint what triggered it, but usually happened if I jumped too often. Also, I wasn't sure how to get the copper/iron out of the furnace. I tried hitting E to use it again and read the controls, but no success. Maybe I just missed something? Still, the digging and crafting was a lot of fun! I really liked your backstory too, made the whole environment feel relaxing. Overall, great submission!

I'm glad you enjoyed it! You need to put coal in the furnace as well as the ore you want to smelt to turn the ore into bars :)
