Even though the core mechanic is simple it is very well implemented! The game is polished and surprisingly relaxing. I liked it!

Developer

That's so great to hear! Polishing sure is important for a game huh!

So far, I've enjoyed this game the most. Similar concept to the one we had in development as our second entry, but yours is waaaay more chill. High score was 3080 so far, but I'm not done yet.

Tell me, are the levels RNG or did you design when the asteroids hit? Cause I swear sometimes it looked like the shield is gonna take care of it, but it just went past. Real emotional rollercoaster.

At first I thought why not let us click to shoot, but I think this works better somehow. Would be great as a mobile game too!

BTW, is it just me or does music intensify as years progress? Maybe it's just all the damn asteroids.

Great take on the theme as well. Really had fun, thanks for this!

Only thing I'd change would be to make the planet look different to all the meteors and maybe add a pause menu with option to restart / go to main menu. :)

Hey there! I'm really glad you enjoyed the game. Unfortunately, it is indeed RNG, I programmed everything with a lot of randomization because I didn't have time to make curated levels(I really wanted to but I had no time), so I'm glad it worked out for you! As for the mobile idea, I didn't think about that. But yeah! I think you're right and it would work well with a mobile screen. As for the music, I didn't purposefully make the music like the way it is, all that credit goes to our free music lord and savior Kevin MacLeod. I wish I had time to make good music for Game Jams. Finally, thank you for the recommendations at the end because these are all great ideas! Thank you so much!

i like the lore!

Developer

Yeah, it would be really cool to expand the lore and include it into the gameplay. I was thinking a lot about what a lonely job defending a small insignificant planet on the edge of the final frontier would be like. On top of that, you can't do anything but destroy those asteroids or die. Hope you enjoyed!

I really like the attention to worldbuilding, establishing lore, and adding a pretty in-depth tutorial (for jam standards). I was able to pick up on my goals quickly. That all said the meteors are really fast and the laser doesn’t really charge fast enough to compensate. Some more playtesting would’ve really benefited this. Solid entry though.

Developer

Hi there, thanks for the feedback! I whole heartedly agree. I think I would definitely look into reworking a lot of the core gameplay systems and making the gameplay more user friendly and fun! Thanks for playing the game and cheers!
