- Amazing game! The gameplay was challenging but simple enough, the hints helped a lot. I think the main mechanics are great, and the game doesn't feel clunky or anything. Very polished as well. Wonderful job!

mostlikely false positive by defender Trojan:Script/Wacatac.B!ml — When Microsoft Defender Cries Wolf (Usually) | by Brendan Smith | Medium
I'm getting the same when trying to download on a machine that has real-time protection enabled in windows defender. Turns out it's a known and very common false positive to a trojan script.
To download, temporarily disable "real-time protection" in "windows virus & threat protection settings". To be 100% sure the executable is safe, unpack the zip and scan the exe file manually with an antivirus of your choice.
It's annoying but it is what it is.
I did pack the zip file with 7-zip which is listed as one of possible causes of this false positive. The next update will be packed with some other zipper just to exclude this as a possible cause.

If you haven't already, try the Windows focused fork, nanazip: https://github.com/M2Team/NanaZip
Can be installed on Windows from the Windows Store.
Really great job here! I loved the art style, game concept and vibe of the world. Mechanically, however, I find myself just randomly dying a lot. Not sure exactly how I can deal with the remnants and where the puzzle element actually is as a result. Best looking game in the Jam I think though.
Thanks! There are textual hints after you die, but I should have probably included more detailed instructions into the game. I've put it into a wip thread in jam's community section: https://itch.io/t/5320299/shut-wip (one of the longer posts below)
In short:
There's about 50% chance that a room contains a hidden Remnant. A Remnant will attack and insta-kill you if it's in the room and you've shut all of the room's windows. So you need to dispose of the Remnant before closing off the room.
Only the parts of a Remnant that are hit by direct sunlight are visible.
To spot a Remnant, you need to shift the sunlight in the room by "waiting" (hold RMB) in order to "scan" the room with light. Sorta like a natural searchlight. Look for parts of Remnant's black silhouette that are lit by sunlight. If you see such a part, approach and click on it to dissolve the Remnant. The reticle will turn magenta when you can do that. Sometimes it can only be a tiny part but sometimes the whole silhouette will be visible, depending on the light pattern that shines on it. After you dissolve the Remnant, the room is safe to be shut.
The more open windows in a room, the easier will be to locate a Remnant or conclude there isn't one, as you have more light to work with
The tricky part though is that light also damages you. The more light (total window area) in a room the greater the ambient exposure that drains you. On top of that, direct sunlight (when you can see the sun through a window) will drain you very quickly. This is indicated by the sun icon above the exposure bar. So try to avoid that as much as possible.
So you need to work with light to spot a Remnant but also minimize your exposure to it.
Last but not least: You can regenerate. Close yourself into a room with all windows and all doors shut and hold RMB to gradually restore soul. This will use your time resource though.
So, me again. Yes, I play your game :). I noticed a bug when playing the middle map. I had two adjacent small rooms where I shut the windows down but it kept telling me I am still under exposure like some windows are still open. They weren't. Also, in the map, the rooms weren't green and looked unsolved.
Amazing game, you did such an awesome job Nena! Your game inspires me in my game dev journey as well!
This is really good, I could easily see this becoming a full game, especially if you add a little bit of narrative to it.
I love how isolation is a goal, not something you want to avoid. Perfect for introverts like me. It's quite intuitive, there are doors to open/close, and windows you must shut to save yourself from the burning exposure to the sun (feeling a bit like a vampire here :)). I also love the subtle color range and contrast with the light. For now, I have managed to solve a tiny (obvious) and small map (enjoyable), almost medium, and I am yet to find out how well I'll do in the harder levels. I'm not fond of "Karen from the office" jumping me, but she gives just the right amount of incentive to try to avoid and kill her in the next round :). All in all, it's catchy and playable. Thanks!
