I think you should not die if you hit the falling blocks mid air.
But overall great job and a really nice concept!

Awesome game. Quite a challenge too. I would love to see what the highscores of the others here are :D
After this gamejam, you can be sure that I revisit this game and try to beat every score in these comments here haha
A nice twist on Tetris.
I agree with BuyMyBeard, the blocks need a (non-color) visual cue as to their function. I'm red/green color blind and I kept dying because I couldn't tell which were the red ones (well, not until they killed me).
The concept is pretty good, the color randomness also great. but the dead mechanism needs a little twist. It's like you won't dead except you're being squeezed between ground and the block above you. so we won't dead for jumping and accidentally hit the blocks that are going down eventho it's not the red one
Also the tetris reminds me of my childhood :)
I like the idea, but the game physics could have used a bit more time in the oven. half the time I die from jumping on top of blocks, which totally shouldn't kill me. I think the game would also be more enjoyable if the tetrominos (not really tetrominos here, I saw some pieces that didn't have 4 tiles) were fused together.
I don't think the tetrominos should have bouncing physics too. I am not familiar with GDevelop, but I bet there is a way to make the pieces not bounce when landing.
Anyway, great job on submitting to the jam!
Edit: I realized that what I was dying to were the red tiles, and the yellow tiles would vanish when touching them. It's a fun twist, but try leaving some kind of info about this game mechanic in game or the itch.io submission page. You can also use gaming conventions that everyone can recognize, like making that tile look threatening by changing its look to something that clearly screams "you will die if you touch me" or "I will collapse if you touch me". It's important to explain these things to the player, explicitly or implicitly.
Edit 2: Another thing you can add is to map more keys to move. In a game jam, we don't have time to implement a custom key binding system, so it's important to give multiples key bindings to play the game. WASD is pretty standard, but if you can salvage the time, try mapping arrow keys too.
The idea is really unique and the controls also feel nice. The gameplay has a really good old-school vibe to it, good job. I hope you can check out my game too.
The controls are awesome and I love the concept. Juicey feeley, me likey.
Partly because this is pretty much what I first had in mind for this jam :-) I decided against the idea, doubting my ability to actually cobble it together in week. I'm glad somebody did build it. Great work!
I ended up making another tetris-themed game. Although it ended up more like the unholy spawn of pacman and bomberman. Check out Tetripocalypse Now, maybe you'll like it :-D
niiice game !! took me a while to understand how it works but once you get it it's really nice, and love the visual side of it !
