I loved this. Amazing concept, beautiful aesthetic and ideas. Obviously it's more a concept than a game I would see been released, but great nonetheless. I feel the platformer mechanics are a little on the slow side for me. Also maybe zoom out on the parts where you need to fall down with a platform in order for the player to know there is something else there. Good job,
Verry good idea, thanks for playing and for your feedback
Too many blind jumps... I couldn't get past level 2. Didn't know where to go. It's important you let the players know what they have to do to win. I got frustrated and left. I'm sure a lot of players would do the same. I like the concept and aesthetics with the code as a platform that was great. However, not everyone understands code... so that's a thing.
Hey Joel,
as this was a game i made for a jam, where others are programming too, i thought the theme of code would be understandable (Mini Jam).
I actually do not fully understand what you mean with those blind jumps everywhere. Normaly the most plattforms should be visible, at least when you wait a second for the camera to come to you.
There are severall plattforms which have to to dowb under the players weight to reveal a new part. Probably that is what you mean.
All in all thanks for the feedback, i appreciate that much, but also i would be happy if you give it another try, because of what comes further. ;)
I agree with the other commenters on "blind" jumps, but I'd also recommend making the player stop when the movement key isn't pressed in the air. As it stands, there's no friction, which makes mid-air commitment quite high. There's something weird with the attack hitbox as well, which might be worth looking into. It could just be that it's a tad small.
Maybe decreasing respawn time would also help get back into the nice-looking/sounding world you have here more quickly. : )
Thanks a lot for the really good feedback, something i dont agree with is the movement. I wanted a pretty realistic and not the famoud plattformer movement, because of the smoother feel and the difference to other plattformer (because i think there are enought of those).
Well, this is very interesting! I would have never thought of this in a million years! xD The "X" key was also an interesting aspect of it! I was stuck on the middle part of level 4, though (since I wasn't sure what to do and I am too lazy to try and figure out what to do, xD). But great game nonetheless!
thanks a lot, where were you stuck? Probably i can help and improve the game at that point ;)
You're welcome! I was stuck where there is an error in the middle of level 4 and you flip gravity, lol, I wasn't sure what to do exactly, haha.
hey, yeah, thats a point, which is a bit hard to guess it goes to the right there and then further ;)
Super cool game and concept. Agree with the other poster that the "x" movement option took some getting used to, but really thought the visuals and platforming was strong.
There were a few instances where the player has to essentially jump "blind" in a direction and hope they land on a code block, but outside of that I really enjoyed this!
Okay, thanks for the feedback, this is a thing i can improve ;)
Nice job , it is funny to jump arround lines of code, I think it would be better with a more classic controls setting. I died a lot while searching X with my finger :)
Yeah haha, you are absolutaly right, the thing is that i made it for another jam and the limitation there was to use this controls ;)
