Rating games based on the Judge categories, just for fun

Gameplay

Pretty fun and neat concept. The difficulty was brutal past the first level. I also got pretty confused as to why I was losing so often on level 1 until I read the game page. I could not make it past level 3. It became way too difficult. Sometimes I could not see what monster interaction I needed to check when the sound notification happened, specially when it was the werewolf but it immediately goes away if it gets distracted by music, so I keep looking around for nothing (funny, but also frustrating)

Overall it is great, but has difficulty and clarity problems

Presentation

Cute and charming aesthetics that is well complemented by the music and sound effects. The UI had missing words in it ("Press Spacebar to..." or "Game..." on pause).

The monsters and all of their visual interactions are funny and entertaining

Engagement

As neat as it is to see the monsters and humans dance and have a good time, the game's flaws makes it easy for players to get frustrated fast. I think an easier "level 0" and perhaps adjustments to player speed or the amount of interactions that happen over time are needed

[8/20]

Potential

Very creative and unique game, although I am not sure how much more could the idea be expanded with such a simple gameplay mechanic only. Perhaps this one can work as a very short casual experience. It definitely has the charm to draw players in

Hey! Thank you for the extensive review! :)

We agree with all the flaws, which you pointed out.

In hindsight, we probably should have tested the game on a bigger group instead of testing it just on our own.

While we didn't have many problems playing the game, we can definitely see people struggling with some of the later levels.

Lesson learnt! :)

Had fun with this, and I dig the music! After the first level, it would be nice if the other "monster" stuff  would get highlighted when holding shift, like the snake did in level 1. I had a tough time figuring out why my party kept failing because I couldn't tell that something like a bone had fallen to the floor. Overall fun experience though and I keep wanting to try and throw a good party!

Hey there, thanks for playing our game. We are really happy to hear that you enjoyed it! :)

In regards to the highlighting of the monster stuff that appears during party We actually considered highlighting them as well with the highlight button but we decided not to. We wanted the players to have a small freak out when they hear the "monster stuff appeared" sound. In retrospect, the monster parts turned out really small (especially on smaller monitors, for example laptop screens) and we don't know if we did the correct thing by not highlighting the monster stuff.

On one hand we are happy that players actually try to investigate the rooms to find what caused the eerie sound but on the other hand, I've seen some people get frustrated because they couldn't find something that was too small.

It was a tough design decision to make!

I can understand that, I figured it was a purposeful choice. You are correct, on one hand it gets frustrating, but on the other hand it just makes me want to throw a better party even more!

Simple mechanics and uses easy to understand symbols of what people want. Quite charming  visual style.
