This game looked interesting, so I tried it out. It appears that the game is a hybrid of a board game and a RPG. Here’s some thoughts:

PROS

1. There’s a lot of cool engineering here. We have good visual effects, a board game mechanic, crafting systems, a tarot based mythology, and lots of events to do. This reminds me of one of those Taikou Rishiden games from back in the day. There’s a lot of potential for this game.

2. The game has an exciting start. You get to pick your hero’s element and class. You even get to start filling up your harem right at the start. :p It can be satisfying for those players looking for an isekai fantasy.

CONS:

1. Game Balance: This game is currently too difficult for most people. It is really disheartening to play the game when the first enemy wipes me out very easily. After dying a few times, it seems that I must avoid battles,  gather materials, and get better equipment before I fight. However this becomes impossible because the slot system forces battles. I think you were trying to balance it with the Newbie Package, but since you get random equipment, it is very easy to get something that will not help the hero you created.

Especially since this is a contest game, you will need a difficulty that most players can get through. i.e. easier difficulty even on your normal difficulty. In other words, it’s better to make the hero a Mr. Dragon Proud Sky rather than a punching bag. This way at least most players can see what your game has to offer.

I know this because I made this very same mistake in previous contests. My game was too hard for most people. Due to time constraints, balancing stats was the last thing I did, and that’s a bad idea.

2. Tutorial: This is a game with many nuances, which means it can be confusing for new players. It seems that I must defeat the dark lord before my food and water runs out? It seems that I should collect tarot-like materials to craft better equipment? And how do I get new skills? So many unsures will make a new player uncomfortable.

I know that a shorter tutorial is usually better, but I think this game requires a more complete tutorial. Especially since English is not your strength, instead of a long help file, you could try showing with guided “safe” battles and railroaded scenes. Give the player free control only after the player understands your systems.

Hope that was helpful. Good luck and keep on game making!

Thank you very much. I'm working on a new update.

There is a LOT going on with this game right from the beginning and I'm not entirely sure that's a good thing. It starts off like a serious, narrative-driven game that fits the IGMC game, but then quickly changes to a brightly-colored board game with slots.

The music choices were good and you certainly put a lot of work into using the animations and filters -- but they also might need to be pared down a little. With them playing with no wait every time you mouse over an option, it's a LOT at once and can be very laggy.

Even with the language set to English, not everything was in English, which made an already difficult to figure out game even more difficult, since the pieces that weren't in English probably did a lot of the explanations about what things were supposed to do / be.

I think you have a lot of great ideas going on in this game, but maybe too many for a single game, especially one on a time crunch. Overall, it's just very overwhelming and confusing in its current state.

Must say I didn't get the gameplay at first, and it's a bit of steep learning curve to get all features, but once this sits and you have your party equipped and know what to do in each screen, this game starts to be a lot of fun. I liked the graphics very much and also the tabletop gamelike gameplay. I haven't reached the dark lord yet, but I'll continue my journey.

Two negative things: Firstly, I didn't like the steep learning curve, because there isn't much help aside from trial-error. And secondly, the chance of simply dying and getting thrown back to your last save point just because of a bad roll.

Other than that, well done!

Thank you for your support, I am still improving my game, it will be replaced by card battle, and the card battle mode will be added in the future, the content will be richer.

This looks charming! Sadly, my graphics card passed away and at the moment I can't run RMMV games, but once I buy another one this definitely will be on my playlist. Reading the comments below it seems that the translation is kind of an issue, but I'm optimistic it won't suppose much of an obstacle.

I agree making a game while working a full-time job is hellish, to say the least. So don't be discouraged.

Thank you. It's really hard to work full time and make games in your spare time and take care of kids, but I love making games

I tried this and it was a nightmare. The presentation is just such an overdone, blurry mess. The mouse cycles through multiple element icons, and lets off confetti for no good reason. The translation is spotty at best. The intro story is a joke.

Once the "game" gets started I was not at ALL prepared for what it was, some kind of board game with little explanation. It just does too poor a job of introducing the game for me to bother continuing, it's just too much.

Without looking too deep into it, it looks like you slapped in every single fancy plugin you could find, which ends up an incoherent mess, I just couldn't take it.

You're not a good Game player, because you only give good reviews to your own game, and bad reviews to all the other entries, and you have moral issues, Indie Game Making Contest: Rebirth, and you give a lot of bad reviews to all the other authors in the same time frame. It's really shameful.

Uhhh, sure. Whatever you say. You're free to get upset, by all means, make me the villain in your mind if that helps, but man you should hear yourself. Next time, if you feel like harsh criticism is not something you are ready to take, then either don't engage with it, or don't put your stuff to a fairly high-profile contest.

I gotta add tho, I've given good rates to plenty of games, just not all. I am NOT obligated to. I'm not a judge, and my taste is my own. If you want me to lie, sorry, I'm not going to.

Still by all means, sorry if this upset you so much, but I make a point to be honest in my feedback. Ignore it if you want, you're free to do so. In the same way, I'm free to dislike the game.

Thank you, you let me know how bad my game is.

Oh, don't get mad at Indrah. Giving tough love is her signature move. She gives honest criticism equally to everyone with no ill will. She can be very nice too. :)

As gamedevs, taking criticisms is part of our job. I know it can be hard sometimes. But be humble. Listen, learn, then move on and make a better game.

Yes, I know my game is a mess right now

I'm sorry but I had a bit of trouble playing with it as some texts are translated and some are not. Despite that I didn't except to find so many different gameplay (I enjoyed collecting cards the most). Also there are some interfaces / UI elements that surprised me because they typically are difficult to implement in rpg maker, nice.

I'm only one person. I still need to work at ordinary times. It's very difficult to make the game perfect in one month. I'm trying to translate it. Thank you for your experience
