I was one of the official judges this year, and now that the results have been made public, and I'm free to do so, here is my score and thoughts on this title:

Overall score: 3

Boring, and squandered any real potential it had with such low-effort. The fights were just there to pad time, and the final spot I got to, there wasn't even a proper path forward, so the game can't even be completed. If you're going to start off with an interesting premise, please don't waste it on dungeon generated areas that have no life and fights that all feel and look the same. Very, very disappointing entry.

I like the idea of reliving others' lives to restore your own, but I didn't quite understand how the tasks were meant to be making your own rebirth more worthwhile -- they just seemed to be random fights thrown in  for something to do, rather than actually having a purpose -- especially when you're asked to "slay the demon lord" and then... that character just ends? I assume that was how they died, but it would've made sense that you could then try to win the fight they lost and that was what made you stronger and able to be reborn?

The mapping could definitely do with some more variation and attention, rather than just big open squares with random enemies, especially since so many of the characters' lives seemed to be so repetitive. It would've been cool to see some scenes or dialogue with people in their lives in order to give each character a bit of depth to them, outside of their little job.

Again, I think it's a good premise, but it just feels more like the start of something that didn't quite get finished.

I tried this out, but eventually on the 4th character got bored and quit. It's just too barebones as it is now to be enjoyable for me.

Some of the ideas on display aren't bad, seeing small vignettes of character's lives focusing ins a single "mission" per screen is nice and all, but the fact that they are so empty and boring most of the time dissolves any interest.

The text (especially at the intro) is fairly rough and bland, and the mapping is bland and most rooms are pointless, to the point I have to wonder if the random dungeon generator made them. Combat was very boring, none of the skills seemed particularly interesting besides doing a bit more damage.

Overall this is just too bland to be appealing. Maybe with a lot of work the idea could do well, but not for me, at least light now.

+ = I like it

- = I don't like it

---

+ Cool busts on the battle status HUD

+ Non-linear progression is cool

- The story premise is interesting but the execution suffers from slideshow syndrome

- Battles lack depth and only serve to pad out play time

really like the concept of reliving other lives! I think it's set up and framed in a great way as well
