How does your game fit the theme?
The game embodies the ecosystem theme by emphasizing the interconnected relationships between various biomes. Players strategically place tiles to create a balanced ecosystem on Gaia's Garden Island. The mechanics highlight the importance of water sources for grass and forests, managing desert impacts, and maintaining the delicate balance of ecosystems.

My first project was too big scope so made another idea quickly and created this in 4 days. I hope not too bad and you can enjoy it 馃槉!

PS: I can not win any prices during the Game Jam as Host, but I would appreciate any feedback on the game and appreciate your ratings馃槉!

Thank you 馃榾!

The game is fun, but i found my self a bunch of times not knowing what to do, plus the walls of text could have been avoided, maybe giving the information while you are playing, audio is really fitting, overall this is a really good submition馃憤馃馃悽馃幏馃

Developer

Thank you 馃槉!
The walls of text were a bit because of the time constraint. But you are totally right. Give the information while playing would be much better. When a new tile arrives just explain what it does and maybe a more expanded tooltip when you hover the tiles with a short summary.
Nice you had fun playing the game 馃槉!

Very fun concept! I can really see this game being expanded into a full game with more tiles and maps or objectives. You could fasten the pace of the game a little bit. Good job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the positive feedback 馃槉!
It should indeed be a bit quicker pace wise and adding some extra tiles and maps would also be a nice update that I could do. Thanks for the tips!

Like the idea. I think it's a bit too repetive and last a bit too long. With some new tiles and rules it could be a really nice puzzle game. The realisations is really clean ! Congratulations !

Developer

Thank you 馃槉!

Some new tiles and some faster gameplay would be a nice update indeed. Good tips!

Good game! Instead of giving all the info at once, maybe you could give info about a tile when it's first presented. And the pause between moves could be quicker. But enjoyable and not too hard.

Developer(+1)

Thanks 馃榾!!
Glad you enjoyed playing 馃榾!

The info could indeed be better distributed instead of only tutorial. On first presenting would a nice update for the game and the player will better know the current tile options.

The pause was to let all animations play correctly. If I had the time I would have coded it better/more efficient with some other Coroutines than I used now. Was a bit of a hack and can understand it is a bit too much when you play the game for a longer period. Check!

Thanks for these tips and feedback!

i placed about 50 Tiles and had fun until that point , then it gets a bit stale.  lost my first pieces of Nature because i didnt know how much Dessert i could have next to it . When placing tiles you cant information about the other tiles but this is really the moment you need that information. But overall this is in my Top 2 Top of this Jam and got the longest Comment i wrote so far.

Developer

Thanks for your kind words 馃榾!
Glad you liked it 馃榾!

90 was indeed maybe too much. Especially for a game jam game. Used that to make it more of a challenge. But someone already gave the tip for a possible future update to let the player choose a board size. 50, 75, 100 etc.

And info in the tooltip of the tiles is also a good suggestion. The main info is in the tutorial screen now and you can not read that during play. Having it on the board on a hover would be nice indeed. Thanks!

Very fun game and well done! Would have loved to be able to turn the island around but great stuff.

Developer(+1)

Thank you 馃槂!
Glad that you had fun.
Would indeed be a nice feature for a possible future update to turn around and look at it from different angles.

I agree. Will have to go back again but also a random island might be good too. Once you鈥檝e got a strategy that works, having a different shaped island might give some variety. Or even different islands with some fixed constraints already placed, like sections in the middle that cannot be claimed. A lot of possibilities here.

Developer

I will note this tip also馃憤.

Different shapes and obstacles I did not think about, but could be a nice new feature to have you lay down the tiles more tactically on the board. To avoid desserts in narrow passage for example and more..

I got 162! Simple yet intriguing

Developer

Nice score 馃挭馃榾 & thank you 馃榾!

I really like the calming graphics

Gameplay is fun

It's kinda long .i love long gameplay but not during jams so i will also play it again after the jam because it's fun

Developer

Thank you!
Maybe 90 tiles is a bit much indeed..
Used that amount more as to make it more of a challenge.
Maybe half would be a better fit for the game jam.
Still glad you enjoyed it and want to play again 馃槉!

Submitted(+1)

One option would be to have different levels you can pick to play. Small (30 tiles), Medium (50 tiles), or Large (90 tiles).

Developer

That is an idea that crossed my mind also. If I only started with this concept at the start instead of halfway I maybe could have made that possible 馃槄. Good tip once again! Definitely something to think about in a possible future update.

cool game I really enjoyed playing it although I think it's a little slow

Good job!

Developer

Thank you 馃槉!
Yes, it is not really fast indeed 馃槉. Could be more smooth.
Bit in time trouble which prevented me from making that. But nevertheless a good tip!
Nice to read you enjoyed playing! That was the goal.
