Gameplay/Fun (5 stars) - an awesome little tower defense game. Very satisfying. Only complaint is that it was initially unclear that I had to buy "slots", or how to switch slots.
Graphics/Art (5 stars) - it's really quite beautiful
Audio (5 stars) - nice music and sound!
Theme (4 stars) - I suppose you're "enhancing" your tower, but that's true of pretty much every tower defense game.
Devlog (0 stars?) I couldn't get to the link
Thanks for the review , thats a great run! Yeah I'm going to work a littleharder on maybe a tutorial at the start, yeah for some reason the devlog link isnt working but tbh I didn't have much to say so you aren't missing much . I played your game, was really impressed, looked a felt really well made and fit the theme well!
This was a really fun game to play, and I love the game art! Some of the rounds do feel a little slow, but overall I enjoyed it! I think some more unit types and variation in background music would be cool too.
EDIT: Sorry for the comment spam, my itch desktop app glitched out lol
Cheers , I appreciate you taking the time to play it! Yeah looking forward to adding some bits and making more out of it
Fun bloomy game ๐.
Gameplay
Cool concept to convert tower-defense genre to 1 tower where you have to shoot from balconies. The tactical swapping of units and upgrading was also a fun challenge.
Game starts a bit slow, but at the end it becomes more spectacular with more enemies and stronger units and then also more effects on your screen. That it is in 1 screen area, makes it clear what you can do and where you have to put units.
Maybe several types of enemies in an update would be a nice addition or maybe a kind of boss and that you then have to quickly move your wizards to 1 side ๐.
Three units types was easy to manage now, but some more would also be nice in an update.
By the way, you only know what the units can do when you can buy them. Therefore you do not know in the beginning what you need to save for, although you gamble that the most expensive one is the best ๐.
Online leaderboards always a nice extra! And I am it it, not the best but not the worst also ๐ .
Graphics (FULL GFX)
Lovely bloomy ๐. Gave it a unique fantasy atmosphere. Kudos for making everything yourself!
It also looked like one coherent environment. Fantasy theme also came back in the units. Particle effects made the game look polished.
The texts were not always clear and easy to read. Especially also the How To Play.
Main Menu was pretty!
Audio
Also fitted in well with the fantasy vibe. Sound effects also blended in well. Some more variations in the background track would be a bonus.
Theme
Enhance your tower in a spinoff of tower defense fits well.
Devlog
Too bad it is not present. (Will it come?)
All in all a very nice challenging game that also looked nice. Job well done ๐ช!
Cheers for playing , I'm glad you enjoyed it. I totally agree with everything you said and actually want to make an updated version to fit these pitfalls and see how much i can venture into this genre. Devlog should be up albeit not very informative , I may work on one tomorrow when I get time, wish I got more screen shots mid way.
Thankyou :D
this is really solid! sometimes the rounds feel a little too lengthy and slow. It seemed like sometimes i could drag my archers around to have them shoot while not on the tower which helped them feel a little more useful. I found a lot of the text was a little too transparent, and the can't afford text blocking out the ability to see what the different units are seemed strange.. The music was also a bit repetitive for my tastes. Aesthetically it's nice and cohesive but maybe slightly heavy on the bloom. I don't know how hard a feature it is to implement but I was impressed seeing leaderboards included :) I think overall this is a great entry, something to be proud of!
oh yeah, the link to your devlog isn't working? hope you'll get one up!
Thanks for giving it a go!
Yeah I could spend days tweaking the difficulty , I ended up just settling because I still had sound and UI to finish before the end but I'm looking to make a full version with more features so that will be a lot more play tested. Thanks for the feedback I appreciate it , I'll take all this in mind when making the new version. Yeah leaderboards starts out a struggle until you put them in every game you make haha I've saved bits from old games to make it easier for myself to implement it each time I make a game , I think it makes it a bit more replayable. Thank you! The devlog isn't too interesting , I didn't manage to get any screen caps throughout the game and to be honest can remember much of the process haha I do a lot of it in my downtime at work.
I love you art and audio. This game really fun.
That was awesome, having much fun playing! Menu UI and gameplay UI also excelent.
Nice game...
The game's good! I like it.
The art was REALLY good - easy 5 stars there. The gameplay was also really good - moving around the peasants on the tower was really fun. Main problem is that the difficulty ramps up way too fast and the archer is kind of a waste of money; the enemies very often aren't on an angle that the archer can hit.
Yeah I get that , towards the end the archer was my biggest issue , he doesn't really play much part other than being a red herring at this point. I'm going to work on a full version with a bit more focus on the characters abilities etc.
Glad to hear you like my art work and gameplay :D
The art was really polished and gameplay loop was fun.
Only thing that bugged me was rotating using mouse scroll wheel it caused the browser window to also scroll causing me to constantly scroll the page back up. Maybe use arrow keys for rotating.
GG!
if you fullscreen the game that issue is solved
Yeah kind of noticed that last minute and was split on changing it to right mouse button but decided not to go throuh any changes at the end haha , plus I wanted the inconvenience to push people to getting the full graphics download ;) haha, glad you had fun
was an interesting defense game, really love it,the art and gameplay are really good, the lowpoly is perfect.
Love love loved this game! Thank you for making it!
Haha thank you! Appreciate you took the time to play it , I'll be sure to give yours a go today!
