I gave this game a few tries, but I had too many collision issues on each attempt. There were times where I felt like my character somehow got turned around but my camera didn't, because WASD suddenly wasn't working correctly. Like if I hit W instead of moving forward I was suddenly moving at like a 2 o'clock position or some other odd angle. That being said, I enjoyed the low-poly art style and I'm super impressed with your submission making it with only 3 seconds left!
A spectacular looking 3d world. I would have liked a stop mechanism to float back. but if any criticism should be given. then the beeping sound caught my ears. little bugs along the way. but luckily you could get around them :)
After reading through your other comments, now I can understand the reason behind the state of the game. I was originally on board with having to dash to the top of a lighthouse with a you move time stops mechanic. But there's just way too many inconveniences like collisions in the world not properly working so you fall through it at times or the fact that you can't move the little bubble things while they're in your way and don't move on their own. The game is not well optimized but I do like the controls although I felt really uncomfortable sprinting with ctrl. I have high hopes that for the next game jam or next game in general that you make, you can complete your vision as that's what I can see you have for this game. I respect you publishing it anyways as I know this is something you will be taking to heart moving forward. Merry Christmas, congrats on your game, and never give up!
After all the technical issues and the 3 seconds before deadline finish I really wanted to take a look - It was capricious and hard to run though, had to restart it a few times as the graphics seemed really prone to dying. My drivers are a bit outdated though so that one may be a me issue
The times in which graphics died aside though, I found it a bit frustrating that physics objects sometimes randomly blocked the path - eventually I figured out you can sort of 'bunny-hop' giving yourself momentum in some direction and then let go of all input keys to move around but keep time frozen, it helped with the physics bodies a bit. When I got to the top of the tower I didn't know what to do- I did get there at least though
I'm really curious what this would've looked like with a little more time and a little less technical issues, but it's really impressive that it ended up working in the end with all the hoops you had to jump through
And I’m not gonna excuse myself, I agree, in lack of a better word, unplayable. I didn’t wanted to upload, but failures are also a for learning.
Glad you took a look though. I was expecting it to be reviewed by no one but at least someone did give me some feedback. I do these jams not to win, but to get feedback. For that I am grateful ♥️
Thanks!
This messed with my brain through its very unique look and feel, and unusual interactive soundscape. Takes some getting used to - honestly maybe I never will. I ultimatley couldn't find a path to the lighthouse. Still definitely worth checking out for it's funky 3d shading and take on time manipulation.
I have so many stories to tell that are better than the game tbh. And yeah, this is, just like my previous game: a nice tech demo.
Thanks for trying it out! I’m here for the feedback anyways :D
