Game Description
A rascallish young boy teams up with a friendly cryptid to get back home. Jump on your new friend's back to reach areas you couldn't alone!
How does your game tie into the theme?
In the deep dark of Hidebehind Holler, local folklore tells of a Bugbear that roves the woods at night. What said folklore DOESN'T tell is that the said Bugbear is cute, friendly, and likes berries.

Awesome work once again! The character design, dialogue and music all feel so authentically old-school, very very nicely done. I really enjoyed the gameplay too, you hit a homerun on the character swap, the entire playthrough was fun and just challenging enough. The writing kept it flowing very well, with some really nice touches like the boy commenting on Bugbear getting the easy route. Definitely another jam highlight, great work!
Hey, thanks so much for playing!! My biggest regret is not having more time to spend using the dialogue in funny ways xD I had a bunch of ideas for shenanigans the duo could get up to but ended up getting carried away with the platform-y bits haha.
Thank you again, it really means a lot!!
Really solid entry. I enjoyed the banter and progression of difficulty
Top-quality entry as usual Mystery!
Well played on the theme and "tag" wildcard! The puzzles were creative, ramped perfectly in difficulty, and were tough but fair. Took me a few tries on the later stages, but never did the goal feel insurmountable. Hooked me till the end.
Narrative was your strong suite as always. Music matched the theme and feel of the game. Handdrawn graphics was charming (i spy the same door from GWJ69!)
I'm glad I got around to it before the jam ended. Enjoyed this greatly; one of my favourites this jam! Congratulations on another great entry!
Thank you so much!! Your words fill my soul with warmth and fluffiness!
It's been great getting feedback this jam, I feel like I've learned some great lessons I can take into the next one. Hopefully I'll keep getting better and someday be able to make something really awesome!
Great work on this! Loved the dialogue, the intro sequence sold it straight up. The jokes and fourth wall breaks are nice. The dynamic between the characters is great and you're really onto something with their abilities. The second level was a little hard for me to get through. Perhaps some checkpoint system could help. The controls were fine but I can imagine having some playtesting might help balance the sensitivities on movement. Great job! Top game.
Thank you so much!! I really had fun with the characters despite how silly they were. You're totally right, I'd never considered playtesting on one of my games before, but I think that would have been a great idea—most of this game's biggest flaws gameplay-wise were things I didn't even notice until I started getting feedback from others. Overall that was a great takeaway for me!!
Thanks again for playing :D
Same for us. We spent a full week working on tons of puzzles before getting anyone outside of the team in to playtest them, and it ended up being way harder for most people than we thought. There wasnt enough time to restucture the games learning curve but we learned a lot!
One of the best games in the jam. Awesome levels, quite easy, but that's fine. Graphics and sounds are cool. Loved it.
The issue is in controls. For some mysterious reason, it doesn't say anywhere that you can use WASD for movement.
Also, settings menu would be a great benefit.
Other than that, really awesome.
Hey, I really appreciate the kind words and the feedback!! You're totally right, I did forget to mention WASD works too xD I feel better hearing you say it was on the easy side for you, it's a relief to know it wasn't too unforgiving (or janky, lol) for everybody!
Thanks again for playing, it really means a lot!!
Cute visuals, audio and narrations. After the first level, I really was in need of some checkpoints.
Hey, thanks for playing!! Checkpoints are a great idea, I think that would have helped a lot. Much appreciated!
The audio was hard on the ears and there was a lot of dialogue. I like the fact that we can swap characters. Overall a great effort! Good job
Hey, thanks for the feedback! Yeah, I definitely see a lot of things I could have done better now. I ran out of time to edit dialogue and the results are definitely... lackluster xD
I really appreciate you taking the time to play regardless!!
I love this, I did a similar thing with having two characters doing a lvl, but this is way better, I love the screen shake when the bugbear falls, and it's a really cool idea to have one of the characters be the platform for the other
Good job!
Absolutely adorable! It was a little too hard for me 馃槄 but the plot is fun and I definitely see the potential with the platformer.
I really liked the music and the characters. But it was difficult for me to control the big guy when he flies haha. Nice work :D
Really fun game. Fits really well into the theme and really like the character dialogues....
Thanks so much for playing!!
I like the two character platforming mechanics a lot, feels unique to play. The music is fun and fits the theme well, the art is clean, especially the characters! Overall a fun experience! Wish there were audio controls is the only thing!
Hey, thanks so much for playing!! You're totally right, hopefully I can include better settings and things in future projects xD I really appreciate the review! Your game is amazing by the way :D
