Nice, really cool interpretation of the transfer takeover wildcard. It would have been cool if you got more powerful across generations or something, that way you are less likely to kill the dragon on the first or second loop. Or maybe some other aspects of the level change between generations as well. Over all though a really cool idea

Thanks for the kid words! We had alot of fun and had to reign in lots of ideas to avoid scope creep! We also had lots of sprites that will go into an update so that the character will visually change too!

Fine good game. Died as first man then killed dragon as the second lady. Dragon turned out to be very stupid. Wish you could hold mouse button to shoot continuously instead of spam clicking.

Not much content in game. I wish you could set arrows on fire with burning buildings. Other than that a fine little game.

Developer

We're glad you enjoyed the little experience we put together. The two points you have mentioned already came up in our post jam analysis as a team and we will try to get them into a little update we are putting together!

Nice idea for a game a good implementation of the theme I thought. I was glad to have killed the dragon on the 3rd generation, a lot of potential for fun developments in this idea.

Developer

Thanks for the kind words! We really battled scope creep on this and concentrated on getting a nice  experience out! we are glad you like it :)

lol, I killed the dragon as Osric, not realizing what the game was about.
Then I read the comments and went back to play it. Great implementation of the wildcard, good writing, fun game

Developer

Great job on winning as Osric! We're glad there was enough arrows for that :) and it's great that you found the replayability for the game!!

I slayed the dragon with a lady who turned 100 and arms are sinewy.. after much carnage.

I'm going to do this review a bit differently from how I usually do them, and start with the areas for improvements. I did enjoy reading the story, but i feel a QOL improvement would be to allow players to transition the script forward if they're done reading it. It's also weird that players moved as fast as arrows fly. There was also a bug where I picked up 100+ of arrows suddenly (but unfortunately arrow-hoarder-guy died shortly after to dragonfire.

BUT. I highly applaud the clever thought and effort gone into ticking off all 3 wildcards + theme. And what a splendid effort it was! I really liked the idea of how some descendants are linekd to their forebears through story, and the ability to mourn them was a superb touch. At first I was going to nitpick at the character sprite, but in the context of recursion, it was actually pretty hilarious.

Kudos to the writer. The clever writing and the cheeky humor in the character backstories were not lost on me. Part of me wanted to keep them dying so I can read through them all. Out of curiosity, how many were written?

Thoroughly entertained with this one. Well done!!

Hiya! Writer here, thanks for your kind words. The team are looking to polish the game further from everyone’s feedback.

In response to your query on characters, there are 10 different ones you can play as. You always start with the same two but the others are then randomised. There are five different endings aswell that you can get, so each character has their own text/experience with the specific endings. Sounds like you got the victory one with Wendela, what a woman. Thanks for playing!

Developer

Programmer here! Thanks for the kind words!

With regards to the arrows, its totally possible to pick up enormous quantities of arrows all in one go! Two of the houses spawn arrows every 8 seconds - we forgot to randomise their location however! This would mean the arrows only appear as a single sprite, which is "effectively" a pile of sprites in the game world. And since the world persists between runs its highly probable you walked over said pile thinking you're only getting a few extra arrows!

We have noted your QOL improvements and really appreciate the time you have taken to give constructive feedback!

The art is beautiful, and the difficulties are quite high.

Good job!

Thanks for the kind words! It's true that we are blessed with an incredibly talented artist!

Hard to find a way to survive but it became easier with a bit of practice. Nice game!

Developer

Thanks! We are glad you didn't survive too easily, and hopefully you enjoyed the development of the story!

The writing made me laugh, I was curious to see each new Dragonslains name lol.

Developer

We are glad it gave you a laugh!

Simple game with well-tuned mechanics with an elegant addition of recursion and world persistence. Just don't do the mistake of hiding in the well while the dialogue is still playing. That soft-locked the gameplay for me the first time with no way to exit the well.

Developer

Thanks for pointing out a softlock bug! We will look into it! Glad you enjoyed the game :)

I am assuming there is supposed to be a dragon but I ran around the whole map and didn't see anything, so I just ran around picking up as many arrows as possible LOL. The music and writing were nice though!

Developer

Hey, firstly we are sorry you never got to encounter the dragon! We will look into what might have caused that! However, we are glad you liked the music and writing! Check back soon for any updates as the team have a few ideas for tweaks we could make!
