Game Description
Poor Wilfred! His tower has been invaded by some annoying spirits. So, armed with courage and his little oil lamp, he shall drive them out of his home. And the only way to do it is by lighting all the cauldrons distributed in each of the floors that make up the tower, in order to give the eternal rest that all those evil spirits deserve. But it will not be an easy task, since these lost souls are not willing to leave the earthly world, and have plagued the tower with traps, mechanisms and monsters, to prevent our nice (and hooded) hero from achieving his goal. "The Haunted Tower" is a true tribute to the mythical Sinclair ZX Spectrum, in which I hope to capture (with more or less fidelity) the spirit that made that computer one of the most loved and remembered of all time.

Great game with complete polish only suggestions would be to add more levels and maybe a little more to story or cutscene at the end. This would make it a great standalone game. That all being said, I agree with others that it doesn't seem to align to the theme.. ghost theme would have been a great fit.

Developer

Yes, the idea is to make more levels and finish the game because I have too many projects started.

Thanks and regards!

Excellent presentation! The game plays really well too! I love the CRT effect, it helps the game a lot! Unfortunately, I don't see how the game ties to the theme at all. Regardless, great game!

Fantastic, easy-to-learn puzzle game! I really loved the music, art, ambience, lighting effect, great job!

The whole TV screen effect was neat but I wished there was a way to turn it off as the font and the “bent” nature of the text made things a little hard to read at times.

Thanks!

The Retro/Scanlines Effect can be turned on/off with the 'K' key or from the 'options' menu.

Just tried it out. Right you are, I see what was meant now by retro effect. :)

A really fun game with well done graphics and controls. Main annoyance was that splash screen screeching but was able to skip it. Options and controls too, the animated main menu and filters... Nice job!

Thanks!

The start screen (and the entire game) is a tribute to my first computer: the ZX Spectrum.

Wow! You got me with this one!

ZX spectrum - my first true love :DDDDD so many hours spent on gunfright, elite, robin and etc

The loading screen is something!

The shaders and lighting - cool!

True gem, really enjoyed.

Well done!

p.s.

In game menu is not working or missing (but that's not affecting fun from the game at all for me :) )

Developer (2 edits)

Thanks!

During the game you can access the pause menu with the P key. It's the only menu that is during the game.

By the way, I have several projects started with 1-bit ZX Spectrum style, like a sci-fi Metroidvania, some puzzle-platformer, or a tribute to the great "Cybernoid" in the form of Metroidvania.  Some of them you will find on my Itchio page.

Wow, that's cool! I'll definitely check it!

Do you plan to release the source code for this one?
It would be interesting to see how you implemented some of the FXs in the game.

Great work!

Developer

Thanks again!

Sorry, not planned share the source code at moment.

Best regards!
