It runs really great, at least on my end. You get the game within 2 seconds and that's what you get for the whole time. It looks quite cool and aiming works but that's about all I can say about it.

the game needs more optimization I don't have a good laptop to play these games but it's also not a potato but I was getting a lot of input lag (around 1 second) making the game unplayable

Could use optimization.

The ghosts look really good from a distance, but as they move closer they look quite strange.

The hand sticks outs from everything else a bit too much.

In my opinion it doesn't fit the theme that well (it might help if you showed how much HP ghosts have

The overall art is actually really good!

For some reason the graphics were very laggy on my computer, I couldn’t really play it

Developer

Oh no! I know UE5 is just kinda big and we also didn't optimize things too much so maybe that was the issue. I'll have to do some digging on UE5 minimum system requirements and see what we can do to make sure everyone can play our projects in the future! (or at least tell them if there are min sys reqs)

I really liked the art style! The game felt like a generic shooter but I feel the vibe it created was really cool :D I think it would have been cool to have a death message screen where you can see your high score.

Developer

Yeah I like the idea of a game over screen with your score on it! We wanted to do something like that but we we're too tired by the end of the jam. If we revisted this project that's definitely on the list of things to add!

I really liked this. You hit the retro vibe pretty well, and the music complimented the pace of the game. There's a few points where your communication with the player could probably be a tad better; like what the dice value was, and how much health they have. I also got a "Cast to BP_FirstPersonCharacter FAILED" error quite a bit. But great work getting this put together!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I think the Cast is something leftover from the ghosts and having them follow the player. We tried to add a system to having numbers popup when the ghosts took damage but we scrapped it in order to make the deadline. I also would've definitely liked to make a health system just so the player had some feedback for when they were attacked.

The gameplay is pretty repetitive, but the visuals are ok. They are a little inconsistent though, between the walls, the enemies, and the player hand, they all use different art styles. Also there were print messages and errors showing up mid game.

We definitely used this game to test out a bunch of different techniques in UE5 so we'll definitely look at integrating them all better in our next project. Also I built at 3am after downloading the newest version of Visual Studio 2022 so when I saw that the print strings kept showing up I just resigned myself to make sure the project was submitted.
