I love the idea here but it could really use some 4 on the floor type dance music that emphasizes clicking on the beats.
Really solid start! Keep up the good work!
The idea for the game is really good, I think the actual game could use some work though either way great job
A great start, but a bit hard for me to balance the rhythm aspect with the shooting and movement mechanic. I feel like the music is not in sync with the bar at the bottom which seems like a problem. Good job though!
As a musician my self, i suffer from polyrythm and this game literally is based on a metronome. So good job and great idea
Intriguing concept, a shooter based on rhythm games! It was a bit difficult to actually follow the rhythm however. great potential if polished further.
Great concept, and I can really see what you were going for. I assume the goal was to make the bar at the bottom be in sync with the piano music, and if you would've achieved that, the game would be so incredibly intuitive. Right now it's difficult to match the dots on the bar, but given the timeframe it's completely understandable.
I actually do think that you have something here. If you flesh out the gameplay and artstyle a bit more (maybe towards the colourfullness of Geometry Wars), and have the synced music, it could be a great full game!
Loved the overall idea, but switching between looking at the bottom of the screen and back to the ship didn’t feel smooth. Maybe the other asteroids and elements could move in rhythm? Nice work!
If you make the bottom screen bars bigger and the beats go from edges to middle (a bit like Crypt of Necrodancer), it would be less difficult to multitask and it would make it more playable.
The idea is great thou, asteroid but as a rythm game. I love the mix
Great Job
Nice shooting game! I enjoyed the play but require lots of multi-tasking lol. So it's quite hard for me
Nice game, I really like the music but as some other said, something to help keep up with the beat would have helped.
Great concept! I love the idea of a musical version of asteroids. I'm glad I'm not the only one to make a musical scale game. Your game is very complete, functional, and pretty. I wished there was rhythm to the music that I could match with my button presses. Nice work!
Great concept, I like the idea of combining rhythm into the gameplay. Seems like the ammo/health bar keeps going after reaching zero, and the asteroids collide without touhcing the ship (I'm guessing you they have a squre collider box). Overall it's a fun game!
The music is very pleasant and the concept is fun!
Interesting idea, but needs some music to follow the beat. My brain apparently can’t go it alone :(
I like the theory and the working tutorial. Didn't realize how much nostalgia a little Asteroids game would generate. Well done in the time, for sure; a little more polish and it's a nice little game. In some cases, I think the hitbox of a smaller asteroid formed by a previous hit seemed to keep the parent's hitbox. I'm not sure about the rhythm connection. Might want to consider a metronome/aural component, the bar at the bottom of the window was distracting at times. Also, gratz on submitting - just getting it done and mashing the 'submit' button is a win!
This is a cool idea for a game! Good job on your first, 麦!
I like the idea, but the music and shooting rhythm are not in sync, which seems crucial for this game. I think a more beat driven tune could also work better than the floaty piano music. And the window to get a note right could be bigger in the first level and decrease per level, so the player could get used to the gameplay.
And while typing this, I read that this is your first game! Wow, I'm impressed!
An interesting interpretation of the theme! I liked how you unlock more and more different shot types.
I liked the musical take on the theme! The art, music, and gameplay were all good. The one thing that threw me off was having the beat of the music conflict with the beats of the rhythm bars. I ended up just spam clicking to not have to worry about matching the beat of the rhythm bars. I'm realizing getting the rhythm bar to sync with the music would be really tough in under 48 hours, but would be a super rewarding addition if you keep working on this in the future. Congrats on the first game! And getting it all done in under 48 hours, well done!
