It was interesting seeing little vignettes into her life. I love the foundations here, the story felt like real glimpses into somebody's life and the main character design was really compelling.
If you do make this into a full game though, you might want to add some music. I found myself sometimes forgetting which button was forward in time and which one was backwards, and I feel like if you put a different audio filter for each it would be easier to remember what you're doing.
Super original mechanic and enjoyed the story! Great job :)
I must say, it's a rather good looking game there (I specially like the looks of the character), with some creative use of its mechanics that serve both platforming and narrative. The cohesion of the visuals, the VHS, the static and the introspection of the protagonist go well hand in hand to showcase the setting of yearning for something of the past (or at least, that's what I got of it).
I really didn't seem to get much out of the gameplay though. It was a bit slow and even clunky at times. And while the sounds helped make the atmosphere, the repetitiveness of the static got a bit annoying later on.
Regardless, I did like this submission! Left me wanting to see more about these VHSs and the people around the protagonist. It's not every day when I get this nostalgic about old technology. Thanks! 😊
Glad you liked the art, you got the sort of vibe we were going for! The mechanics definitely need a bit of polish-- Really just ran out of time to get them feeling good. I'm planning to upload a cleaner version once submissions are unlocked 😊
The art is really really pretty and the splashes of colors against the more pastel subdued background make a really nice contrast! The mechanic was very very cool! when the blocks started moving I was not expecting it and the fact that it ties into the colors of the sweater are also a great touch. Very Creative platformer!
The Cover Image Art is really unique and cool!
Maybe an option to fasten the forward/rewind would be a good qol change.
Also in the controls text below the game is the space to jump missing.
Oops, thanks for catching that, I've added that in! I definitely like the idea of being able to adjust the forward/rewind speed. It's also true to life in terms of how rewinding works anyway :)
