It's not that the game is bad, it's that there is no game at all. You have a functionning mechanic (and it works, good job on that), but unfortunately that's not enough. It lacks every other aspect of a game. Maybe you wanted to enter your first jam and pull out something no matter what. But I'm afraid you rushed a few key steps. I'm sure you can do way better next time. Don't lose faith and work harder ! ;)

It's not that bad, but it surely needs more work/coding and a lose screen

I like the idea that the balls are falling back down towards you, but this is just too spartan to be impressive

Maybe some restrictions would be nice, at this stage you can just run infinitely to the right or left. And mabye some more bullet types would be cool

Not nearly complete enough in it's current form to have anything to say, really.  Hopefully you'll be able to get further along next time.

Developer

wait someone cared!!!!! does the resolution feel off?

(+1)

Resolution was similar to other web games and the shapes are so basic the concept could work at graphing calculator.

There's an inkling of a game here, just enough to suggest what the concept might be.  Good luck next jam.

Developer

no what i meant is  did you see the players whole body?

Developer

what would you suggest beside polishing up the game?

Well development goes (something) like this:

1) Create a core mechanic [moving paddle, shooting bullets at enemies, dodging enemies]

2) Polish core mechanic [paddle width and speed, enemy speed, bullet speed, explosion radius?]

3) Create core loop [score goes up as enemies are destroyed, score goes down when enemies get through. Speed increases with score. Game over when player hit or score is zero]

4) Polish core loop [Game speed increase rate, scoring system possibly based on enemy type,  how forgiving of player mistakes]

5) Variations [different types of enemies, enemy formations and movement patterns, player powerups]

It's still at step #1 as shooting doesn't do anything.  You could decide if shooting is even part of the mechanic, if it is, make it do something and go to step #2.  If it's dropped it becomes a top-down endless runner and you go to step #2.

Good luck.

Developer

the bullets come down on you is that considered a mechanic?

(+1)

That would be the dodging enemies part.  But with no effect of shooting it's just sort of an endless runner as is.

Developer

thank you a lot for caring for my half game
