Hi nice concept! I love the idea of using the 'soul' separated from the body to get through walls.
First thing I would suggest is have a look at the collision boxes in the objects and try to make it smaller, it will make the game a lot more intuitive as at the moment you die at times when you are near but not touching the enemy, and also the wall at the bottom of the first room does not allow you to approach it creating an 'invisible wall.'
The animations are nice and cute and the use of opacity to differentiate between objects that affect either the physical or spirit version of your player are really cool! Maybe use the he lower opacity to make switches and other things that are in the 'spirit world' that can only be interacted with by the spirit version of you
I was able to stretch my browser and see the whole map (even though I couldn't actually get my character there), so maybe look at setting a fixed resolution or limiting the width according to height or vice versa to stop this, but I did see the level at least and another idea I had is to stretch out the start a bit and make the tutorials a bit more spaced apart, so learn the movement at first in a room with space for the player to try it out, then next room you learn about switching bodies to your soul, with a switch behind a wall to interact with, again allowing player to get used to the mechanic and allows you to put maybe 2 tutorials for this mechanic so you can explain the timer as well? Then the next room with the tutorial for enemies/next room for food etc, you get the idea, it will make it easier to take everything in, without overwhelming the player with loads of tutorials straight away and also pad out the gameplay a bit ;)
Personally, I would also add the floor sprites so the rooms aren't just showing the background!
Good work to you and the kids, they have used some nice features! The draw tool to paint the distance between you and your spirit self are a nice touch!
