How does your game match the theme?
In this game, Aliens from Space blow-up your school, leading you on a quest to their Space Ship and Space Base to destroy their legion. I also used a gameboy style palette with only 4 colors. The music was done with Deflemask, to emulate the gameboy sound chip. Anyway, thanks for having me! And thanks for playing, if you do take the time. It is an honor to receive that much of your time and attention. xoxo - PJ

Extremely cool GB game! The art is incredible and the  pallete very pleasing! Gameplay got me hooked for a while. Good job!

I loved it. It's definitely the best survivor game I've played in the Jam. I especially loved the art and animations of the different aliens.

The only complaint I can make is that the progression is a bit too slow. For a Jam sized game I want to be unlocking new content and characters almost every run, because I want to see everything you worked on.

Oh and the 'Story' option was off by default so I almost missed the thrilling intro cutscene.

P.S. You should make a web version if you can. It's the main reason you have so few ratings/comments on such a well made game.

After playing more than a dozen bullet heaven survival games for this jam, I can say with certainty that this is my favorite! The art is cool, the soundtrack is a banger, and the mechanics are so finely tuned it almost hurts.

There's a nice mix of general and specific upgrades, and the weapon loadout was balanced. It never felt like there was an upgrade I didn't want.

The enemy variety encourages smart play. There was never a complacent moment, considering I had to watch out for nimble UFOs.

The difficulty is VERY BALANCED. Progression maps very nicely to enemy inflation. I never felt like I couldn't have maneuvered my way out of something, but I never felt unstoppable either, especially when the giant worms showed up.

My only criticism is that the audio is a bit imbalanced; some of the sound effects are a good deal louder than the music, especially the item pickup and player damage sounds. Those sound effects are also a bit loud; it regularly peaked over 0.0 dB.

Fantastic work!

wow! thanks so much. this may be the best review I’ve ever received. the sound effects will be Very easy to address in a post-jam update, so I will certainly do that!

Bullet Heaven is such a smart genre to do when constrained on inputs. Has the same kind of dopamine rush as vampire survivors.

Music is amazing! Title screen in particular had music so good I had to wait to start the game I was grooving too much.

Small nitpicks would be that sound effects could use a bit more juice / variation  / tweaking, espeically when you're hearing the same sound effects constantly.

Lots of small details which really give it the "gameboy charm". Excellent stuff.

thanks so much. I’ll definitely be doing an update with your tips in mind!
