Fun relaxing experience. My only issue was that I couldn't always tell which was the newly spawned tree to then click on. Not sure if you had an indicator but one would be helpful as I tended to get just a big forest going and then had to randomly click. Definitely took the idea of every tree needs a friend from Bob Ross to heart! Great job!
Cool! It felt good to play a nice and chill game like this. Great job and hope to see more games of you :D
BTW the music really fitted the game.
Thanks! I'm really glad you enjoyed it :)
Nice concept. Lounge music which fits the game. The font is hard to read for the upgrades, maybe change it in something else. Also make it clear that you only have 1 life ;-)
Thanks for the feedback, it's much appreciated! Can you elaborate on the 1 life thing? It might be a bug
I bumped into the ghost and the level restarted. For me it seems like I've only 1 life :-P. As the boxes were still in the moved position, it isn't a restart scene.
Might be a different game, then. :D I don't remember putting any ghosts or boxes into this one
Sorry indeed a different game. Rated your game properly.
The sound fits the game but was very quite. I would like to see the wind direction icon in the left or right corner instead of mid way.
I do like the idea that the trees don't live in the sand area.
710 is my record. Nice concept. What about a mobile version? It's an excellent game for killing time.
Thanks! I think it might be fun to tinker with this idea a bit more, so maybe I'll try making it mobile-friendly while I'm at it.
I love that this game feels so different than any of the other games I've tried from this jam. Really chill experience. I came so close to getting one of my maple trees over the dirt path, but I couldn't quite make it!
I do think the music could come in a little sooner. The audio is great for this game, and the music fits in perfectly, but I'm afraid some players might stop playing before the music starts, and the music is good enough that maybe if they heard it sooner they'd stick around.
Good work!
Thanks for the feedback! I'm really glad you found the game to be chill, that was precisely the feeling I was going for. :)
You're probably right about the fact that the music could kick in a little bit sooner. I was worried about it repeating itself too many times if played sooner, but having more of a musical hook at an earlier stage might be useful.
This game is actually so cool. I was a little lost at first, and it took me a moment to understand what the arrow meant (it's wind), but now I believe I understand the game mechanics to be this:
You pick a type of tree (just oak at the beginning, but later you'll see willow and maple).
The game picks a random tree of that type that you have.
Your next click releases a seed, which will blow in the direction of the wind. It becomes a new tree.
If your seed lands in the water or sand (or off screen), it's lost or dead.
Sometimes (or every turn?) a new tree sprouts up on its own, too. I didn't quite figure it out.
Flowers grow about at certain thresholds of life, making the scene more lovely.
The music you chose was just excellent for this game. My only critique there is that you don't hear the music until near the end, and I would have loved to listen to that much sooner in the experience (I think it's a cool idea to add in music after you've "earned it" a little, but maybe introduce it before maple trees show up, or have a much slower, even gentler music track playing from the beginning that switches).
Final bit of advice: From what I've read, Godot is great at exporting games to HTML5, which allows you to make this a browser game. Browser games get a lot more attention during game jams because they're so easy to try. Something to consider.
Great work!!!
Thanks for all the generous comments! I'm especially happy you enjoyed the music, since I was also really glad to have found that track, as I too thought it was a great fit for the game. I wanted to save it up a little to avoid it getting repetitive, but your suggestion of a more gentle track playing at an earlier stage of the game is spot-on.
Appreciate the tip about browser playability, will definitely do that next time!
EDIT: File is working now, everyone! Try it out!
You've only included the .exe file, which doesn't work by itself. For Godot games, I believe you need to zip the .pck file in with it too (but I'm not really familiar with Godot).
If you fix the upload, lemme know and I'll come back and rate it :)
Geez, I hadn't realised that. Big thanks for the heads-up! Hopefully the thing will be working now. :)
IT WORKS!!!
