This is a beautiful game with so much content and game mechanics. Some puzzles are a little cumbersome but still a very enjoyable experience. Kudos!

Developer

glad you enjoyed the game :D

Very pleasing visual style, incredibly satisfying sound design, and music that perfectly sets the tone. Overall, the concept is interesting, and the execution is top-notch—an incredibly polished product, which is truly impressive. I had a great time, excellent work!

Developer

Glad you've had a great time playing and throughly enjoyed the music.

Great artstyle super pretty game. The idea of photo jumping is a cool one and I dug the music a lot. The artstyle and minimal but effective animations really reminded me of Phoenix Wright  but with a more like minimalist vibe. Sound served it's purpose. I ran into the same bug everyone else did on the final scene but then used the code to finish the game. Nice ending, was cool to the have the Lucas side plot wrapped up. I would have liked a slightly deeper story but it fit well and the clues made sense and I'm glad it finished well.  Really nice clean VN/detective game in Godot.

Developer

Hi, thanks! Super glad you liked the music! :)

hi! amazing story, amazing art, i loved it so much i was fully invested, though im unable to end it since i questioned all of them at the final with all three of them gathered and now it wont allow me to do anything, is this the end? or did i fail?

Developer

Are you not able to interact with the characters by clicking?

yeah i cant interact with them anymore, i guess i lost?

Developer(+1)

No, its probably a bug. We'll have a look into it.

nice game! I love the artstyle soooo much and the background music/sound effects too. I love the screen fuzz on the edges, and the sound effect when characters say something itneresting. The idea of going into pictures for clues is also very cool. Extremely polished game overall, even the detective's pc has a lot of detail hahaha.

I did not finish the game though because I got stuck. After going into Marina's house and taking a photo of it, I managed to enter the photo and open the drawer and find the phone, statue and sleeping pills. After that I couldn't figure out what to do. Marina would kick me out everytime I would go in, and I couldn't visit Victor anymore. I tried using all my clues on Lucas and in my office but nothing progressed the story further. I do want to finish this game, can you please guide me on what to do next?

Developer (1 edit)

Have you looked into the the drawer in Marina's Apartment (the photo)?

Submitted

I did not see anything clickable other than the phone, receipt and statue. Is the photo in the same drawer or another one? I'll try again soon

Hm... from what I know, the requirements to trigger the final scene are:

- Present all clues possible to Lucas (It's possible that certain clue presenting may be locked behind certain dialogue choices)

- Get all clues in Evelyn's Art Studio

- Get Victor to open up

- Obtain all clues in Marina's Apartment Photo

After that, you should get a popup with all requirements met and you can enter the interrogation room for the final verdict. If you're already in the interrogation room, you'll most likely need to re-enter it (Actually, I do not think I've tested that scenario. So if anyone comes into this kind of scenario, do lmk if it creates a softlock)

Submitted

Okay I uh forgot to get the invitation letter from Evelyn's Art Studio :D. After I got that I got the popup, but then I ran into the same issue as the others where I can't make a final decision on the culprit :((

Great game with a great art style and great audio. The plot is intreguing and I felt like I was just about one step behind the detective in solving the murder which made the tell-all reveal very satisfying. Great job!!

I don't know is it ended. After close the popup window, then no one can be click.  Overall good. Since the Godot 4 web export don't use system font, your font missing the ' which can not display. And the dialogue box need enter key press 2 time not good, I press any key for many time for this. I think mouse click is the best for that.

Developer

thats a bug thats being fixed rn, you can get back to the end by starting a new save and using the cheat code.

I enjoyed this a lot! The character art is very nice, with lots of expressions! The photo jump was a nice addition to the ace attorney style gameplay :) The music and sound design suited the game too!

I enjoyed the art style and atmosphere. I liked the ghosted messages form a  thousand years ago. The story was well thought out and it felt good piecing everything together. The character dialogue reactions are very well done. Good work!

really enjoyed this game! the art is amazing, absolutely up my alley, together with the old school atmosphere; from fonts to the vibe. love how retro shade's office is. i know game takes place in 2016 but it really screams "underfunded detective" haha. super expressive and pleasing art style and sprites! love the mechanic of jumping from photos and presenting characters with clues!

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much for checking the game out, Im glad you had fun and enjoyed playing it.

Photo jumping was a really cool idea and I liked the monochromatic aspects, the sketch book artstyle reminded me of a noir detective novel or the Take on me music video.  Unfortunately I seemed to get locked in one of the story sequences, but was able to experience the end of the game with the cheat code provided.

Developer

Thank you very much. And btw, which part of the story did you get locked?

Submitted

I got stuck in Victors office, on "love snooping around much". I saw the bookcase was sparkling but I wasn't able to click on anything.

Developer (1 edit)

Oh, no I believe that dialogue appears once all the clues there have been gathered. The bookshelf one is kinda useless. The dialogue you mentiomed just now was Victor coming in.

Submitted

I gave it another try, but still got stuck on that screen. Not sure what I was supposed to do after Victor came in? There wasn't an escape screen either, I was playing on the web version btw.

Developer (4 edits)

Your suppose to present clues to him and you need to get the info from Lucas to start suspecting and interrogate victor. At the end of the dialogue sequence, if you haven't fulfilled any of those, an inner monologue would give a hint on what you're suppose to do to proceed. If its the dialogue your softlocked at, try pressing enter. The bookshelf isn't meant to be interacted once you get all the clues.

The whole system feels polished and ready to play with. There's no big twist in the story yet it's robust. In particular I love the portrait variations in the dialogues! Sometimes the name shown for a line is wrong but these are small issues.

Developer

thanks for the kind words, glad you enjoyed the game and the character art.

Loved the artstyle for this game, as well as the mood you gave it! The mechanic of reaching into pictures was very clever, and added a lot of complexity to the game! I love a good mystery game, and this was certainly that! Great job!

Developer

Thank you for the kind words and I'm glad you enjoyed the game

Love the vibe, nice aesthetic, very ace-attorney-ish, overall fairly polished! Good job!

Developer

Glad you enjoyed it and it was very much inspired from ace attorney,
