Very nice demo and really good work. I'm looking forward to see your final result.

I'm usually pretty bad at this kind of game, so I ended up in game over really quickly :) . But I like the principle of taking care of the egg, it's different from the usual tamagotchi or pokemon :) . I saw that it was only a demo, and I hope that the project will progress as you wish ;) . Good luck.

Yes, interesting

This was cute! I really enjoyed my Tamagotchi as a kid, and this is like a paired down version of that. It was more stressful than I first expected.

I very much enjoyed my time with this one! The art and theme of the game is very charming :)

GumpyFunction said it all best in his comment; I believe this could be expanded into a really nice and full experience.

The introduction of being there for 10 days got me a bit worried once I saw that the gameplay options was either to talk/sing or adjust the temp. But then the early hatch was quite the surprise! I'm curious, if you interact with the egg more often, does it hatch sooner, or is it just a matter of surviving until a set time when it will hatch?

Also, this game reminded me of my recent experience playing Stardew Valley where I have to juggle and prioritize my tasks in the day and overall season. Like GumpyFunction said, this could be an interesting point to lean into with more mechanics demanding the player's care.

Thank you for playing and writing a review!

We hadn't really thought about the possibility of having the egg hatch sooner/later. Right now it hatches at a set time. After that, the idea is to have to  feed, train and play with the little monster, while it grows as days pass, and having the monster's personality and abilities be affected by its interactions with the player.

We even got to design the sprites for different stages or evolutions of the creature, so we were a little disappointed that we didn't manage to use them in the demo.

When we tested the game we noticed the gameplay gets tedious in its current stage so we were also worried about that, sorry haha.

We also like Stardew Valley and we agree that could be interesting as well!

thanks!

I understand completely! For my game I have much more designed and even have the composition for melodies learned in my game that make for a song with harmony, but for this jam I only had time to program in 2 of the 12 total parts.

Will your team continue to work on this then? I'd love to play some more.

thank you! yes, we'll keep working on it!

Nice little demo, cool idea for a game - taking care of an egg. Could definitely be expanded upon, as expressed by GumpyFunction. I like the artwork / tilework a lot.

Developer

Thank you very much! We will update the demo adding sound,/music and some missing features after the jam is done, and will keep working on a full version of the game.

I enjoyed this one. Its brief but charming and the polish is quite nice. I enjoyed the concept of it and I think as a demo is has something going for it. Enough of an idea to expand and put some decent meat on its bones.

I would say that the gameplay is a bit too repetitive as it is currently but I'm sure you will expand on it after the jam to great effect. The constant monitoring of the temperature was enjoyable actually, more than I thought it would be. But I thought the talking could be expanded on greatly. Some dialogue trees would be nice. Even like one egg shake for no and two for yes would mean you could learn more about what the animal likes and maybe unlock more activities to entertain it. Like dancing or even mini games to expand on the gameplay a bit.

I also thought the idea of needing to sleep was nice. And having to rush back to check the temperature hadn't dropped too much was an interesting moment. It would be cool to see some more self care things. Like you have to care for yourself by eating and going to the toilet for example, then there will be some drama in the gameplay because you have to stop caring for the egg to care for your own needs, and risk losing the animal.

Some other ideas for minigames might be:

- cleaning the nest of bacteria that build up

- fixing the computer (with a simple random puzzle perhaps) periodically or the egg wont get heated.

- making a sandwich/coffee for yourself to eat.

Well done, I think it's a great demo and shows promise.

thank you for your review! We're glad you enjoyed it, and we appreciate all the points you make in this post.

We were surprised in a positive way while we read your comment, because some of the points that you make are actually in line with what we planned but didn't get to implement yet, while others like the one about cleaning the nest or making food, etc. we found interesting. A thing we thought we could do is having the computer break, and having to brood the egg yourself, or stuff like that.

Dialog trees and unlocking different activities are definately something we want to do.

The one about also having to take care of yourself by eating, etc. we hadn't thought much about before, but sounds super interesting, and it could make the gamplay better. We'll explore it, thanks.

Anyway, thanks for playing our demo and giving such an insightful review. it's really motivating for us :D
