This game was FUN! I would definitely play it again! Thought it was cute, didn't have any real feedback other than we couldn't get multiplayer to work.

Keep up the great work!

Hi and thx for your review! ๐Ÿ˜Š

I joined your stream while you were playing and thought it was a bit... chaotic ๐Ÿ˜‚

Especially when you started the race without getting on the chair first! But this gave me the idea to add an indicator that's pointing to the next available chair, so you know at a beginning of a race where to go. ๐Ÿ˜‰

The 2-Player-Mode is only local split-screen. That's why you couldn't get it running over network/Internet. ๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ™‚

This game is far from being finished and every stream/feedback helps to make it better!

Sounds like a great plan! Keep up the good work!

HAAAARRRRRDDDDDDD!!!! But obviously, we loved this game. There are still some tweaks that need to be made to the position indicator, but the handling is much improved from the last time we played. The chairs are a whole lot easier to maneuver. The music and the artwork is still top shelf stuff and we absolutely love the characters.

From a UI perspective, it would be best to have all selectable characters on one screen, especially for two players, because if one player moves the selector to the next page, it moves both players selectors to the next page.

It's definitely nice that the power ups regenerate now. It's also a welcome improvement that running out of energy doesn't automatically end the player's race for the duration.

The last critique has to do with the difficulty. Easy mode is VERY HARD. A little work on balancing would make this game much more enjoyable for the casual or novice player (or even those of us who have been gaming for 40 years, kawww).

Keep up the great work on this one! It's definitely one of our most memorable games played

Hi and thx so much for revisiting CHAIR Champions! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Some comments from my side:

- I had a few more complaints about the 'easy' difficulty not being easy. What everyone telling me that has in common: They aren't playing much racing games. That's why I added another, easier difficulty: casual ๐Ÿ˜Š

Besides that, I have worked quite a bit on the AI behaviour for this update and will also continue to do so in for future updates.

- The character selection screen needs definitely an overhaul! I don't know if I can fit all (present &  future) characters on one screen though. That's why I added pages. However, I think it might get better (especially for 2 players), when both can 'lock' their selection with the use-key instead of just not moving anymore. ๐Ÿค”

- I already noticed that the position label will tell you that you're last right before you pass the finish line. I'll have to investigate that further but it should not affect your actual placement when you finish very close before an opponent. ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘

- I have also tweaked the chair behaviours and balanced them so that it's also possible to win against the Home Racer when you choose The Boss! However, the chairs are much more responsive when they have a higher acceleration: The Ninja and McFly are easy to maneuver, while the standard desk chair and Turbo Toilet are a little less responsive and the Home Racer and The Boss are the hardest to control.

Thx again for playing! It was fun watching you two discover the improved bumping mechanics! And yes, please use it to your advantage! Experiment with it ๐Ÿ˜‰

Also thank you for your appreciation of matching the music/sounds with the art style ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ˜Š I really payed attention to these details.

Here's a stream for ya:

I played this game on my stream (VOD).

My daughter and I had lots of fun playing split screen. We found a few small bugs and I believe you've already fixed them.

We've also played the game before, and like it so much that we play it every time it's available on Feedback Quest :)

Nothing really to add, other than to keep up this great game and we look forward to playing it more!

This is a nice game and cool concept.

What I liked:

Music is apt for racing.
Graphics and effects are well done.
Felt good to win!

What could be improved:

I found the initial "grab a chair" part confusing. Why is this included? Also I select a chair before the race. Does the chair grabbing mean I may not get the chair stats I chose?
When moving to title after a race, the screen goes back to windowed mode from fullscreen.

Overall this seems a fun racing game. All the best!
Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot for playing and die the feedback! ๐Ÿ™‚

The "grab a chair" part is primarily there to make you aware that you can also leave the chair and run around without (there are some Easter eggs that you can activate on each track). It should also be a funny little "rumble for the chairs" before the actual race starts ๐Ÿ˜‰

And no, you get the chair you choose before the race. That's why you see all chairs shuffling through when there's no one sitting on them.

And I got a question regarding the window mode: how did you set the full screen? Through the bottom right overlay button (when playing the browser version) or the in-game button in the title menu? I will have a look into that. Thx for making me aware of this bug.

Submitted(+1)

Alright, that clarifies the chair grabbing part.

I played the browser version, and set the fullscreen from the title page in game. I actually can't find the overlay option. There's a setting to be enabled on Itch for this I guess. Right now the in-game fullscreen option acts more like a toggle. If it's fullscreen and I hit "Escape" the game goes back to windowed, but the setting is still in the "On" state. Then changing it to "Off" enables fullscreen, etc.

Developer(+1)

Ah, I thought it was the web build. Thx for the clarification ๐Ÿ˜‰

I reviewed the code today and fixed at least the part where it gets back to windowed when you return to the title! (Along with a few other bugs) โœŒ๏ธ

I removed the overlay because it interfered with the fullscreen option ๐Ÿ˜… you can also press F12 or 0 (zero) to toggle it on or off.

Thx again for playing and helping out ๐Ÿ™

Here's the  latest change log:

Hello, I tried Chair Champions again, I feel like this project has gotten pretty serious so I am going to give you a feedback that's aiming for the market, not just as a hobbyist game.

Cover art: Love the update, I like the strong meme quality on it, great illustration, but the logo text now needs adjustment, it's blocking a face, UI, social media icons are blocking character faces, those are no no for graphic design, please adjust their position. The current cover is too crowded, consider shrinking the icons a bit more and put it more towards the bottom 1/3 of the cover and turn them horizontal instead.

I still need the mini maps... I have gotten lost on some of the later maps and had to reference AIs to know where the track goes, I wonder if that's in the works since it's been an old issue from past feedback.

Sound: Ability to do sound adjustment would be appreciated.

There's my play through with more detailed notes within:

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot for playing and your constructive feedback!

Yes, the new cover art has been added as one of the last things before release and I agree that it needs some adjustment - and probably also the UI layout. As the internal resolution is just 320x180 it's a little challenging though to shrink the buttons, without looking fractured. I see what I can do ๐Ÿ˜‰

There is already a sound volume option directly on the title screen: you can see "volume:" and a left & right arrow to change the volume from 0 to 100% in 10%-steps above the "Full screen" option and the animations showing the controls....

Maybe I will also add volume options to the pause menu with one of the next updates ๐Ÿค”

Yes, a mini map is still on the agenda but wasn't a priority until now. I wanted to get the racing mode working first and until then display the direction indicators - I also added the new "wrong direction" indicator which shows you that you're going in the wrong direction during a race. I will add them for the time attack mode as well!

More changes and new features are planned for the future and your feedback helped shaping them ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘

Thanks again and until next time ๐Ÿ‘‹
