Im going to be writing about my characters Adair and Ximun (as I often do.) I have a lot of big plans for rewriting the origin story of their friendship that I had made last year, and I wanted my jam entry to be a sort of concept idea for the new prologue to that.

Against their will, Adair is always super popular no matter where they go. They were born with an extremely rare power that constantly broadcasts itself to those around them by emitting this huge aura of magic. Basically like a neon sign over their head that says “I AM SPECIAL”. Around the time this story takes place they have begun to fall into a deep depression. They obsessively mask nearly every aspect of themself to try to avoid any negative attention, but also to try to dissuade others from wanting to actually get to know them.

Meanwhile, the most notoriety Ximun carries with him is simply a little bit of a reputation among his fellow track kids for how erratic his behavior can be (he is plural). But then he similarly ends up getting shoved into the spotlight, albeit temporarily and to a lesser degree, for a significant athletic achievement.

Adair and Ximun meet as a result of their similar situations bringing them together. They become fascinated with each other almost instantly. In my original version of this story, Adair is really the one doing the heavy-lifting for their friendship in the beginning, but in my new version things are a lot more balanced between them right away.

I like to make it to where everything about their relationship seems really romantic from the outside, even though neither of them see it this way at all (Adair is even specifically aromantic.) It amuses me. I would say that nowadays my idea of their relationship is very QPP-like. That term doesn’t even exist yet when they become friends though…..lol

My main character is an established one for me, Mixx the Jump Jockey who's shown up in some of my other work. Kind of an antisocial loner type, which fits with her chosen lifestyle of flying around space in a pretty small single-person craft. I think it's going to sort of be a "meets some people along the way" sort of structure, so other characters will emerge, but I'm not sure yet what they'll be like. I tend to like draw someone and then let their personality come forth out of that, I guess.

The perspective of my visual novel is from just a nameless stand-in for the reader that doesn't talk, and all the dialog will be characters speaking to you.

The character the plot revolves around won't be seen in the beginning, but he'll be built up in the story before you see him. He's this silly looking meat organ brain creature who might be named the Viscera Man but I don't know yet. He's kind of like a cryptid around a rural village, he became the Viscera Man like a month ago and has been hiding and is feared, but he's a nice little guy.

He's also gender of trans, and he's going through like a trans allegory. The game's going to be light-hearted but I need to make sure issues aren't undermined. Maybe it's just me but most visual novels and most queer stories have like normal human characters or at least close to that, which is fine of course, but I always preferred little creatures and weirdos, like a guy you'd see in a surreal Rpg Maker game but gay, so I'm making what I want to see.

my main character is named ben, mid-20s office worker going nowhere fast, always tired and feels empty

they find comfort in disassociating from their body and imagining they are just empty space in a void

due to this love of disassociating and doing it probably way too often, they feel doomed to never have themselves figured out and drift through life as a simple nothing of a person

but then something happens (their body gets mutated and transformed, transgender sorta things, and that'll be what the vn is about weeeeeeee)
