What a delightfully bizarre main character! I like the mildly gross sound effects of its movement. Also, this has to be the biggest stage I've ever seen in a game jam game! The implementation of the One Rule theme is fantastic in that it causes the already-huge stage to be played in completely different ways each time. This is an incredible amount of stuff you've packed into a 48-hour game!

I was a bit unclear on the controls - it took me several plays to figure out how to shoot - but that's pretty much my only gripe with the game. The slight graininess of the post-processing just puts the cherry on top of the already odd visuals. It kinda gives me vibes of the Cauldron games from the days of the Commodore 64!

I can't praise this game enough.  Having a real challenge each go around is a really clever application of the One Rule theme and is really fun too. The jumping is really snappy and well-calculated, and the variety of enemies and traps really rounded the experience. The animation and design of the creatures was good, and I liked the chromatic aberration post-processing around the edges.

Very nice game, I loved all the assets. It was a very fun game! The jumping, moving platforms, zombies. Perhaps have a checkpoint (if I missed it my fault) so that players can come back to a certain point in the game and not have to start all the way over?

really love the mechanics and how the game feels, great job, only one thing, there was no advice about shooting, but after finding the button the game was a blast

I really liked the platforming, just wish I knew about being able to shoot the enemies sooner! (found out after reading the comments here). The controls were really responsive and its impressive how much platforming mechanics you were able to implement in 2 days! (bouncy platforms, horizontal and vertical moving platforms, moving enemies)

I enjoyed this game and hope you can come back to it in the future

I like the aesthetic and the platforming is responsive.  It took me a bit to figure out I could shoot until I got the rule for not shooting though.

Yea sadly our Main Menu did not upload properly so the list of controls was lost. Either way thanks for the review!

Good work buddy. It's fun and the music is soooo good.

Developer

Thank you! I forgot to credit the music actually. Also, the sound effects were from freesound.org.

Good mix of implementing one rule at a time to utilizing a specific feature for completion on a walkthrough. Died a couple of times, but still continues to play it. Good game!

Very well done! I especially enjoyed the music and sfx :D The controls are nice and responsive, I did not see your comment beforehand though so I did not know I could shoot until I got the rule "You can't shoot" I died immediatly and proceeded to press all the buttons :P

One tip/suggestion for the future would be to shrink the enemy hitboxes a little bit. I died quite a few times where I did not feel like they had actually touched me. I find its best to have hitboxes be in the players favour, to not leave them with that frustrating feeling of having died without it "being their fault".

Hi, https://amithliyanage.itch.io/one-rule-port-city-ship-game this is my game and it not shown un game jam category. Can you help?

I really like the usage of the theme and how it sets a random rule each run. I suggest using a different key for shooting, as pressing Shift too many times triggers the Sticky Keys in Windows

Extra Info AND CONTROLS: The aim of the game is to follow the rule randomly given to you in the top left. Controls are WASD to move, space to jump and shift to shoot. If you shoot fireballs, you are set on fire and must go to the nearest water source before you die! Collect all the candy, or no candy! Depends on the one rule you receive. Try to get to the end platform and win! Brownie Points if you collect the three pumpkins.
