Great puzzle game, it rides that line of even when you (think you might) know the rule, solving the puzzle with those constraints was still fun.

So... I wasn't able to turn the character, but judging from the other comments this might be a personal issue. I was still able to complete a good amount of the puzzles however! 

Aside from that, only other thing I'd want to do is reduce the intensity of the glitchy screen effect. Well done on such a sweet puzzle game!

Thank you for checking it out and your kind comments! I’m sorry to hear you had issues turning your character. I never encountered any bug like that myself and I know others are able to play it, but maybe there is some weird bug you hit? I would suggest at least restarting the game and starting a New Game and see if that fixes it? But anyway, thanks again for playing!

I think it may have something to with how I was running games: I use the Windows Sandbox to test games, so there may be some weird interactions with it (as im finding out with other games!)

Hey, as a fellow puzzle person I just wanted to say well done! I picked up on how to complete the puzzles fairly quickly and how each symbol had its own purpose/created its own path. I was actually breezing through it up until the last symbol. It took me a lot of trial and error and by the final 2 puzzles I was kind of guessing as to the role it played in completing the chain, but I did end up beating it! I think my only suggestion would be to have a different set of puzzles for introducing the orange symbol because they make it seem like you need to alternate the symbol with another symbol but then the very next set of puzzles make it clear that that's not necessary. All in all though a really solid puzzler :)

Thank you so much for checking it out and the kind words! I will admit that the red sigil puzzle design was unfortunately the result of rushing at the end of the jam. I spent most of this time just building out the game and then had to design those puzzles last minute. I would have loved a little extra time to onboard the player better there, tighten the design, and perhaps even change the rule to something a little more parseable. But anyway, thanks again for checking it out!

Ah, understandable. All of the puzzles felt very solid leading up to it, so I'm sure if you decide to continue developing it and rework those last couple they'd be just as good.

Though I am terrible at puzzles as you saw I really love the vibe of this game. I feel like the difficulty of the puzzles adds to the mystery of the game, I hope that makes sense haha.

I really appreciate you checking it out and I’m glad you like the vibe! I was inspired by games like The Witness where you sort of have to contemplate the puzzles for a while to try to understand what rules are even being communicated. However, I did not have enough time to really tighten the design or probably onboard the player in a very intuitive way. It was a very fun foundation for me to play with some ideas and maybe I’ll elaborate on them in the future!

This reminds me a lot of The Witness: The puzzles and the feeling that I think I understand the puzzle, but later notice I have no idea what the rules really are. The atmosphere is cool and the icons look great. Could use some more sound effects though. This was a great experience, well done!

Thank you so much for checking it out! The Witness was definitely a big inspiration - I wanted to make a puzzle game where you have to figure out the rules of the puzzles and your knowledge set builds over time. Unfortunately I did have to rush a lot of the puzzle design at the very end of the jam, because it took me so long just to build it all in a working state. I wish I had had a few more days (or weeks) to really tighten the design and make some of those later puzzles a little more intuitive.

And I totally agree with you about the sound effects! Next time I’d like to work with someone for the audio as its the one aspect I am pretty clueless on and had to rely on 3rd party assets.

On a side note, you can use a zip archive with the 7-Zip program to pack the file to make it smaller.

Very fun experience! I still couldn’t quite figure out the red sigil but I managed to finish the game still! I really liked the cut scenes and the whole atmosphere was great. Thank you!

Thanks for checking it out! I was definitely inspired by games like The Witness where you have to spend time studying the puzzles and see what worked and didn’t work to uncover what the rules are. The red sigil is the most challenging to figure out. If you’d like the rule for it, I’ll post it below:

Red Sigil There have to be exactly 2 of the red sigils in a connecting path. There can also be 0 like normal, but if there is 1 in the path already, then you have to add exactly 1 more.

Hmm, interesting. Initially I thought that exactly half of sigils must be red and then, once the difficulty of riddles ramped up, I didn’t have a chance to investigate it in a clear room environment. Thanks for the key to the red sigil :)
