Really nice platformer with the really great reflexion mechanic !
Great Platformer. I really liked the reflection mechanic, but wasn't sure if you could damage your enemys. Some kind of damage indicator would be a nice addition. Also, at the first encounter, i thought you had to reflect the lazer into the background since there was a green orb, that wasn't the case, but could be an additional mechanic to unlock bonuses.
Good action platformer game. I liked the projectile deflection mechanic but I think that enemies have too much HP and the combat sometimes feels slow. Also, if you increase player jumping power and movement speed a little bit, the game controls would feel better. Good job!
The idea is good, and I liked the visuals. For me the controls did not feel really good, and the level designs was a bit confusing. But anyway it's still okay little jam game.
Thanks for your critique :)
really cool game!, a great concept and executed really well! the sound is pretty fitting and the controls feel great, nice job! also appreciated the well made tutorial!
You're too kind :)
Good idea with the shield. Nice game!
Thank you!
I like your artstyle and how the game feels. Nice work!
Thank you for your kind review :)
I LOVED how the game explained itself as you played the intro level. Every jam game should be this good in that regard. I thought the platforms in the first level should be a LITTLE lower, as it took some getting used to the controls while also figuring out the shield mechanic. I wasn't clear... do I need to right click to block? It taught me to do that, but it seemed like the shield worked regardless. It might be easier if the block/deflect was left click, as the spacebar and/or left click to jump was slightly confusing. But overall a good start to a game.
I appreciate the time you took to critique our game - you can thank my co-creator - TheRisingSun - for building our intro level. With hindsight, we could have tweaked the controls a bit, thanks for letting us know!
The art style is pretty nice. I especially like the design of the main character. Regarding the gameplay I used the deflector more as a shield than an actual deflector. I found it quite hard to control the direction of the projectiles. Still it was a cool game, good job !
Thank you for playing, yes sometimes the deflection mechanic would not behave how you would expect, which was tricky to debug.
The blocking/ deflect is a clever idea ! I didn't understood it first so a bit of explanation could be nice. I think it would be a better experience if the character have a invincible frames after being hit, to prevent being killed by multiple projectiles, that should prevent from being too frustrated on death, specially in the boss fight.
Some platforms feel strange with the character movement (I feel like the character slipped sometimes or that some platforms were too far).
I really like the art ! Good job !
Thank you for the feedback. Yes, after some post-release playtesting from friends, we realised the word "block" in the tutorial should probably have been "deflect" or maybe even "deflect lasers" that sort of thing. The player actually did have iFrames, but the duration was set to 0.1f mostly to stop mutliple triggers from the same collider, but yes I agree it should have been a bit longer.
Thank you for playing!
Creative idea for the combat system. I would only make the block cooldown shorter. It sometimes makes the combat a lot harder. The art is good, with some polishing this is a great game!
Thanks a lot for your feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed our combat system - it was quite the rush at the end of the game jam lol
I think the blocking and deflecting is a really fun idea! I struggled a little bit in the beginning especially with the floating laser dudes because they would get real close to me. But it might just be me being bad at multitasking and not running further away from them. I think perhaps mapping the arrow up to jump would be a nice addition. I didn't realize this until the boss fight, but I think the shield would turn blue only a split second after I click it? A lot of the times during the relentless bullet firing by the boss I felt like I _should_ have blocked it but the game didn't detect it. Maybe some leniency frames here would be good. And it would be nice if the boss only started firing when I entered the main room! Also, cool audio, definitely kept me on edge!
Thank you for the feedback. Sometimes it was unclear whether it was down to the narrow parry window or bugs involving the collider of the shield.
Cool game. I like the graphics, especially the main character. I'm getting a Haiku the Robot vibe and I like that.
I find the movement and combat bit lacking. The movement didn't feel smooth and it affected the platforming for me. It might have been out of reach for the scope of jam, but I would've enjoyed some sort of wall sliding and jumping.
While I like the concept of reflecting attacks back, the time span of active reflection was slightly too short for my taste. Also, the enemies might have too much health, since I found myself skipping all of them instead of fighting .
Good job!
Thanks for the feedback, we definitely agree and take that on board. The deflection was intended to be a more fast-paced style of combat, but the enemy health, movement style and levels didn't quite match up with that by the end.
cool game! really enjoyed the boss fight, was hard to beat but felt rewarding :)
Very nice looking game with a fun concept!
good music, nice bossfight, good animations.
the only think i didnt like: some jumps where to hard,
