How does you game fit the theme?
This game requires the player to switch back and forth between two characters to unblock certain obstacles to move forward.
To fit the theme of "You're Not Alone", I wanted to evoke a sense of helping and being helped by elements of the game, while preserving the agency of the player. I wanted the player to feel that while they might be alone, they can have faith that someone else is trying to find them as much as they're trying to find that someone.
Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
The assets (except for the font) and animations were done by me from a while back for a scrapped idea and had just been sitting in my library. The design, code, and music were done by me this week. The code is an Frankenstein adapted from many sources, but mostly written from scratch.

The game looks amazing! The music is great as well. The movement feels a bit slow and I had some small collision issues but overall a very solid game! Also when you switch characters the camera moves very fast and it is a bit disorienting, maybe have a transition effect to ease the movement a bit?
Really good looking pixelart, specially the character animations with the wobbly hair.
Interesting idea. Good entry.
Very nice and game!
Very peaceful and relaxing game! I thought this atmosphere was a great fit with the more challenging (and a bit unforgiving) gameplay, since it pushed me to really take my time and think about which path I should explore next. I really liked the art and the game mechanics, and for some reason really enjoyed jumping on the "stair steps" in the middle of the map, pretty striking with the clouds in the background (I think it's your 4th screenshot). Great entry and interesting take on the theme!
I'm really appreciative that you took your time to embrace the challenge, that's exactly what I'd hoped to achieve with this game! The stair steps were my favorite part too! If you're lucky you could get in sync with the background music when the marimba goes up note by note, I just found that a little satisfying. Thank you for playing and your comment! I'm very glad someone else got the parts that I enjoyed making.
Great work! The art is really good and felt really polished and the puzzles are great too. The gameplay did feel a bit slow at times however, but it still worked well with the mechanics. I really enjoyed it.
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I do think the movement speed can be increased as well after playing it more.
good game it is quite slow with the objects braking and the moving objects but other than that good game
Thanks for playing!
The game is so pretty! I couldn't get to the end, but it was fun trying to visualize the whole map in my head.
Thanks for playing! I really appreciate it. :) I'm glad it worked out your spatial memory muscles a little bit too!
really fun game enjoyed it a lot
great work.
Thank you for playing, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Fun game, love the visuals. I have nothing to be said that hasn't been said before, the camera pans are harsh and the font is hard to read, but other than those flaws the game is really solid.
Thanks for playing the game. Even if it's repeated feedback it's still helpful feedback. Thanks!
I love the character design and the background music! The goal of reuniting with one's twin was very innovative and lovely. I like how the hair moves when they run or jump. It was a bit hard, I wish there were some save functionality. Overall really enjoyed it!
Thank you for playing and giving feedback! I'll likely add a story mode after the game jam that allows the character to respawn somewhere closer to death instead of restarting the game. :)
Amazing concept and beautiful art.
A bit tough to figure out in the beginning.
Level 2 was too long and hard lol.
Thanks for playing!
Nice game! Love it! Beautiful art and a relaxing music... The level was a bit long though so it was a bit annoying if you die and have to replay everything... Good Job!
Thanks for playing and thanks for the feedback.
Very solid entry. Really like the twin swapping concept and I think it fits great with the theme.
The coherent art style and music effectively create a fun & cute aesthetic that sets a distinct tone for the game. I'm especially fond of the pixel art animations and background art.
Character controller also feels really nice which is a deal breaker in a lot of jam-entry platformers. Movement and jumping is smooth and satisfying. A pleasure to play with.
My only minor critiques mirror those of previous comments, notably the font (which had me squinting) and the character-swap camera pan which isn't so pleasant on the bigger levels.
All-in-all a great entry!
Editing to add that the scarves are adorable and a wonderful secondary motion for the animations!
Thank you! I'm really glad you enjoyed it. And yes the font will be the first to go!
This looks very nice. Characters are super cute and animations are also cool. Music is relaxing.
When I finished the tutorial level, I felt like it would be a puzzle game with a few small levels. But when I saw the second level, I was like "woah". IMHO it was too big xD.
Movement is good and responsive, however I would like to have a separate button to interact with buttons, because sometimes you just accidentally hit one and need to do it with another character to return back. It might be not a big problem, but the transitions are a bit slow-ish. Instead of showing every time what is exactly happening when you hit the button, maybe it is worth to show it only for the first time. Also for such a big level it would be nice to have a map of the whole level.
Overall, I think the level is too big. And when you need to backtrack back and forth, it would be much nicer to have more compact level
Haha, the art and music are too deceptive! I did intend for it to be a hard game, but I agree that if there were earlier smaller levels to ease into it it would've been less overwhelming. I'll definitely keep that in mind for my next project. Having a separate interact button is also a great idea and only showing the transition for the first time are great ideas. Thank you for your feedback!
Nice game! I love the art! nice gameplay mechanic too! it took me a while to figure out level 2 I think maybe one screen puzzles or maybe a shorter level could have helped introduce the mechanics. Otherwise awesome game!
Thanks for playing the game for a while and I'm glad you enjoyed the mechanic. I did intend the second level to be main game, and I kinda intended for the game to be a wide expanse of exploration map, but it needs a lot more tuning!
Cool game, nice idea and great visuals!
Good execution of this innovative concept. Sometimes I wish the cutscenes for obstacle clearance were a bit quicker, but overall: great art, puzzles and fun.
Thank you for playing! Actually I even intentionally lengthened some cutscenes to make sure that the player knows that's unlocked, but sounds like that's probably not necessary. Thanks for your feedback. :)
This a cool idea and the game has a very cute art !
I would say that game would be less frustrating if we could swap between characters at anytime because a bump into a mecanism can involuntarily swap characters and slow us. Also it would be great to respawn near where we died with the character instead of retrying the level entirely.
Good job overall!
Thanks for playing! I think I need to improve on making sure that the player doesn't accidentally bump into the same button after being unfrozen. And I'll definitely think about adding a checkpoint mechanism too.
Cute game!
Your game looks so awesome! I really like the art style with the cute players / charaters . Also the audio/musix/sfx was cool. However this is a good game but in the future for more projects or jams I think you should improve the UI by making the font more readable. Don't get me wrong this is a great game and a super cool submission. If you feel like helping out you could play my game or view other submissions from the low rating category. Its totally up to you and keep up the excellent game development.
Thanks for playing and the compliment! I agree with you on the font. It was a pretty last minute find (another reason not to leave UI to the last minute), but enough people have expressed the same view that it needs to be replaced the first thing after this game jam. :)
