Good submission and nice theme interpretation. Some aspects of the game ruin the experience, specially the audio. However, controls are smooth and artwork is nice.

I enjoyed the game. Some of the elements were a bit buggy like the boxes on the plate. Liked the cool levels and themes!

I liked the idea of the ghosts providing different utilities in order to help the player escape. However, in the final level the ghosts became obstacles and felt like a hindrance, which goes against the small narrative you've set up. I think you were going for a Kaizo Mario-esque final level where formerly helpful utility is now an obstacle, which was a nice change of pace from a platforming perspective. However, it was disconcerting to think that the ghosts that were helping me were now hindering me for no given reason.

Loved the graphics, though the sections involving the different coloured fields made certain platforms and obstacles hard to see.

The controls felt responsive, but a number of platforming sections had a low margin of error.

The sections with the fields were novel though could have used an explanation. For example, the purple field was introduced early on and then reappeared again in a later level though without the same graphical effects. I knew it would affect my jump in some way, but I was uncertain if it would be affected in the same way as the first time I encountered it.

Some of these platforming sections would be more reasonable if the camera was zoomed out a little more in order to allow the player to plan ahead or give the player a chance to react sooner. For example, the aforementioned section with the purple field had spikes in the ceiling which were just outside of my camera view. As I was uncertain how the field would affect my jump, I ended up dying when I experimented and attempted to jump across because the field quickly accelerated the character into the ceiling spikes.

The puzzles were interesting, and the ghost that provides hints is a nice bonus. However, some checkpoints would be helpful, as the player would likely die due to a misjudged jump across the acid or accidentally push a crate too far when attempting to get them onto a switch causing a full level restart.

It is a fun puzzle platformer that can be refined further.

Thanks man for this beautiful review we appreciate it. I made checkpoints as you mentioned, however, unfortunately a lot of errors happened before the deadline so I didn't get to solve it properly.

The movement and controls feel nice and tight. The graphics were a bit dark for me, it was hard to see sometimes.

Developer

oh .. sorry about that

and thx for your Review! :)

I like the idea of using souls to progress throughout these levels, however I find that some jumps - especially the first jump pad jump in level two leave very little room for error for such an early level. Because of the character's high gravity - making jumps is quite difficult in general. I would also advise to rethink the colour schemes of some of the platforms - the platforms in the purple area are kinda hard to spot. Regardless, I appreciate how polished the game is visually and animation wise. Very varied level design too. Good Job!

Thanks for this beautiful review :)

Pretty good game. The mechanics can make for some very interesting puzzles. However, the music is very repetitive and gets a little annoying after a while. Also restarting takes too long. There should also probably be some form of checkpoint system or the levels should be split into smaller ones because it's very tedious to start over from the beginning when you die. Overall, with a few fixes, this can go far

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the review.....There was a checkpoint system, however, a lot of errors happend before the deadline so we had to remove it unfortunately :)

Loved it! Especially the art style. I used pixel art as well.

If you don't mind, could you play and review my game? I need some constructive criticism lol.

so the game is nice, the art is really nice, the music works nicely

but there are some things here and there that really make the experience not great.

The tutorial on how to move to be after the character moving, not knowing about R to restart until you die (got stuck at the very first 3 pillar jump and had to restart the full game😂)

The end of level one was extremely dark that I almost thought this was the end of the game.

The platforming controls feel a bit unresponsive sometimes which is frustrating at times. And the checkpoint system puts a bit too far back when you die.

All in all, it's a great submission but I think it needs some work to not feel frustrated while playing.

Good job!

Developer

First of all thank you for this beautiful review we appreciate it. Secondly the "R" restart thing was just for us as  game developers to test the game and we forgot to remove it XD...I don't think that you played the puzzles' levels thought :)

Submitted(+3)

pretty good, but having to completely restart a level upon dying after pushing around boxes for several minutes to open the way forward - oof. shouldve probably just made the platform go across the entire deadly pit at that point, but other than that, good game, just a little odd here and there (with the E mirroring along your character, and the movement explanation only being after you already moved, but thats really minor stuff haha)

I think I'm missing something... What am I supposed to do after reaching the purple low-gravity thing ^^' ? I don't see anywhere to go ^^'

Developer

If it's level one just jump up,however it's level 4 you should jump and glide

Really nice game, I love the art and the cinematic effects. I think you followed the theme very well. You are not alone, there are multiple souls that will help you on your way!
