In what way does your game fit the theme?
This is a multiplayer game with various stackable power ups to help you win. When you're near another player, you inherit all of their power ups. You are stronger together, but when you part ways you no longer have access to their power ups. Staying together isn't easy, but it can help you beat the competition!
Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
I did this to learn more about MLAPI. All of that code was written by me over the last several days. The audio comes from loops that I didn't make, but I did put them together.

I respect the ambitious multiplayer game in a short time, the graphics look great! The only issue is while hosting allows you to experience the game solo... trying to join a game just stays on a wait screen. So without enough players, I wasn't able to fully experience it. From what I could see looks good, I would maybe just teak the camera boundaries at the characters was ofter at the edge. Otherwise, good work!
If you have a chance please check out and rate my team's entry "Beatdown Breakdown Boomtastic" : https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-5/rate/928162 It's a rhythm-based brawler!
Thanks! It's all but completely broken, but at least the network code mostly works. I'll check out Beatdown Breakdown. Looks fun and I love rhythm games!
This game suffers from a fundamental flaw and that is that in a racing game you don't really wanna be near another opponent, I guess it can be fun with a lot more people but the range for getting the abilities is so short that I don't think it really matters the number of people if you get a bit stuck behind just by a bit you are already losing all the boosts, the idea is creative but I don't think is handled well, also the music didn't seem to work in the game, it would sound for a bit after beating the level but afterwards it was complete silence.
For the online though, we had a few problems at the start but once we could play online it worked perfectly, no lag, no conexion errors nor random disconnects and for an online game made in a week thats amazing.
Overall I like the idea but I don't think the sticking together in a race is a good design.
Thanks for the feedback. Power ups are spawned by the players in front so that those behind have a chance to catch up.
THIS IS SUCH A HIDDEN GEM.
Really neat idea and execution and one of the few games I'd totally play outside the jam. Good. Job.
The aesthetics in this are sooo nice. I've been wanting to make a game with this artistic theme. Cool to see it so well implemented here. I think you should have added a single-player button. I almost did not play because I thought it was multiplayer only. It was fun getting better and better each round.
In retrospect, it was pretty foolish of me to make a multiplayer only game for a game jam. But that's what I was mostly interested in exploring, and thank goodness it works at all. Lots of stuff had to be cut (see description if curious), but I'll probably continue updating it after the jam to get it closer to what I was going for.
Very cool that you made a multiplayer game in just a couple of days. I'd like more music, sounds effects, and power ups spread throughout and then eventually a level randomizer algorithm but all that takes time. Great work for such a small time frame!
Thanks! Pretty much everything you listed was planned, but had to be scrapped because I'm terrible at managing my time (and also I live in tx and our power was out for almost half the jam). It was supposed to be more rhythm focused with speed and movement bonuses for landing on beat and such. I'll continue working on it after the jam to get these features implemented. Thank you again!
I guess i couldn't experience the essence of the game on my own, but you have a cool art style and the concept sounds cool! Plz check out my game and give a rate ty

It was very risky making an online game for a jam but i think it really works, the power up mechanic really fits the theme and the visuals are super cool, great job!
Very aesthetically pleasing game, this does not seem to be vpn friendly when playing online but it does seem like a very fun game, good job overall!

the game is amazing really amazing! just WOW, good JOB!!!!
The only thing to do better was: the game felt empty maybe add some enemies or add more details.
Other than that good job!!
Thanks! There's a whole lot i had to leave out and the game is barely working as is. It's fun when you have a lot of players to race against. This was my first game jam and my first attempt at online multiplayer. It shows.
PLEASE READ: this game is 2 - 20+ players, but it's not something you can play alone.
PLAY OVER LAN: start the game as a host, other players will need to join on your internal ip (like 192.168....) using the port number you selected.
PLAY OVER INTERNET: host will need to open the port they choose to use on their router. Without forwarding the port, other players won't be able to connect using your external ip.
(Ask me how to do this if you're not sure)
