How does the game fit the theme?
"The longer you risk, the sweeter the cookie becomes."

In the game, players face a boss and a variety of bullet patterns. Players must remain still to charge up a devastating attack. The longer you remain stationary, the more exponentially the damage growth rate skyrockets. The ultimate goal of the game is to defeat the boss and achieve a high score by dealing as much damage as possible in a single hit (the boss's health is limited, but the damage dealt in one hit is virtually uncapped. Therefore, to achieve a score higher than the boss's health, players must continuously charge energy to deal a sufficiently high amount of damage in one go. However, this also means that every second carries the risk of death and losing all accumulated energy).

Players only have 1-3 chances to get hit (depending on the difficulty), meaning every second is a risk. Will you choose to unleash the energy you've already accumulated, or will you risk losing it all to continue building up even more? This is a test for the player.

Really nice game! The visuals are very charming, the audio is also very nice, and the game reminds me a bit of Deltarune and JSAB with all the dodging :D

I found the game to be a bit difficult at first, but once I got used to it, it wasn't so bad :)

There was a problem with entering your name for the leaderboard though. Because the R key is linked to retrying, you can't put an R in your name, and since I use the name Yoru everywhere, I retried like 8 times or something before finally discovering the problem and using a 3 instead of and R. Now I don't really mind this, because the game was fun to play anyways, but I think other people could get annoyed at this :)

 I think this was also the problem with the other guy, since he also had an R in his username.

I believe currently I'm first on the easy leaderboards. I really enjoyed the game, and probably one of the most addictive and polished games I've played so far :D

awesome game! I like the art, its vibrant and catchy. The controls are smooth and responsive, I'm playing against a tough boss , the projectiles are challenging . This has good replay value, Overall, I  enjoyed playing this ! congratulations! keep it up!

Great art and concept! Really nice to just fight a Boss right away. Very very hard to win but I guess that was the point.

Quick Suggestions:

  • Some boss attacks feel like cant be avoided.
  • Dash btn could be bound to Shift and attack on left click for a better game feel!

One of the most polished art in this game jam, and the music is quite nice too. Personally, the game was a bit too hard for me and the control buttons felt a little awkward.

Finally got a score I was happy with (90000), and then the game restarted before I could submit! :(

I also really liked how if you charge for a long time the attack takes longer to execute.

Ok this game fuckin rules. My favorite of the jam so far. Definite High Dragun from Enter the Gungeon vibes. The song is a fuckin bop- as a songwriter its really cool to see you incorporate all these 8-bit sounds in such a cool way that makes sense musically. Taking notes.

As for the gameplay- I beat it on Easy, got 194260. Perfect difficulty for me, I love bullet hell games. The storing power mechanic is cool- but in practice it kind of feels like it comes down to luck, whether you can afford to stay still for so long you can just one-shot the Cooking King? Not saying you should change it, just giving my thoughts. I think you should add (more?) invincibility when hit, since I took damage immediately again after taking damage.

Hard is insane, I lowkey do want to give it my best shot but the one life is so so punishing. I do really like the attack patterns of hard, but I kind of wish they were also in easy? Idk. For me, I feel like the difficulties could be combined, cause I like the variety of hard, but the health of easy. Or maybe you could just bump the health to 2. Not sure what is best for the game.

In short, really enjoyed your game, would love to see more bosses

You totally called it! The dev is a huge Enter the Gungeon fan, haha!

And about that music—yeah, it's a total bop! Full disclosure, we actually found it as a free track on Pixabay (it's credited in the submission) and the vibe just fit so perfectly we had to roll with it (⊙o⊙)!

This is actually my first time making a bullet hell, so the pattern design definitely still has a ways to go. But maybe luck is part of the game? Every time you charge up, you're gambling on whether the Cookie King will give you the chance. :)

Your thoughts on the difficulty are spot on, too. The original plan was even more punishing: one life and one single shot to kill the boss. After playtesting I was like, "yeah, that's way too brutal," so that became the hard mode. But I'm seriously thinking about nerfing some of the hard mode attack patterns and mixing them into easy mode to give it more variety, just like you suggested.
