How does the game fit the theme?
Nothing lives for long in the tomb, once you get hurt you might never recover that health. To make it to the end nothing can go wrong.
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
None, I made all assets during the jam

I love the retro art style! Very nostalgic. Unfortunately, the browser window is tiny.
The game was difficult but very fun! I loved the aesthetics and sounds worked really well!
A bit of spelunking inside a dark tomb, great concept for a game! Love the 1 bit artstyle and the chip-tune music that accompanies it, really ties the whole thing together.
Even with only 1-bit, you managed to capture a dingy and dark atmosphere, the gameplay is simple but very engaging and quite challenging, I did find the enemies a little too tanky, other than that great job!
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it! I did realise a bit after the jam period ended that I should have shaved a bit of health off most enemies, but I'll just have to keep that in mind for next time. Thanks for playing anyway!
I like the dark vibe, even if this is a hard mecanic to work with
It was hard to get used to the controls. Other than that it was alright.
The controls felt a bit confusing. I don't know what the norm is but I would have loved to hold one key and then use the same movement keys to attack!
Now that's out of the way, I'm a sucker for retro games, especially 1 bit, and you've done a really good job with every single aspect of the game! Amazing!!
Thanks a lot! If you don't mind me asking though, what was confusing about the controls? I didn't realise that they would be as big a problem as they seem to be.
In the current setup, the game uses WASD for movement and the arrow keys for shooting bullets.
For me, it's a bit difficult to manage both at the same time. I think it would be simpler if the game used the arrow keys for movement. Then, when the other key (let's say 'X' for now) is held down, pressing the arrow keys would launch bullets in the direction of the arrow pressed. This would make the controls easier and more intuitive for me.
Was I able to explain it well now?
Thanks, I get what you mean now! I guess that's something to think about for the next one.
Little bit confusing controls, but other than that it was quite fun
I like the game, it is very tough and I couldn't beat it. I will say though, that the traps can be very hard to see and can feel a bit unfair.
