things I liked: this game fits the theme perfectly. I like how it kinda makes you do the fishing part although you don't have to, but it's more worth it to. It would be cool if the fish you fished up gave you different powerups for the upcoming level. I also like how you need to get up front to hit the blue guys, but then that also puts you at a greater risk
things I want: the artstyle is really nice, it would've been good if the enemies fit the style more. I like the fishing rod attack animation a lot, but it would be good if it showed it while jumping and if the sound effect didn't happen every click even after the attack starts. Also I wish there was something in the left loop of the island.
Overall, really nice job the game is actually really polished and I had fun with it

This all being your own art is fantastic. The world feels alive and the animations are fantastic. Only thing that looks just ok are the enemies. Gameplay was pretty fun, although the transitions and main game all felt a tad slow. I felt like I wasn't able to kill the blue enemies as they were permanently stuck to the right side of the screen. Some music in addition would be great in the fishing sections to make it a little less lonely feeling. Overall, very cool game though. Fantastic entry!
Very nice concept, i loved the way you used the theme and the vibe of the game. I think the speed of the character was way to slow, but maybe that's the style of game you're going for... overall a pretty solid entry and very fun!

Nice game of 2 halves. Time spend preparing/building up through fishing. And then using that time in the Zones against the storm.
Could have just done with a bit more UI clarity in both areas, on the health bar. Seeing how each fish increased things in prep would have been great.
But great job on brining this together in a week! well done! :)

Loved the concept! The art looks cute and the mechanics are solid, congrats!
I'm enjoying this game. I died only two times passing all the zone. Crimson thorn is a bit underwhelming though.
-Some animation while fishing would be good I thought my game froze for a sec.
-I can see it will get boring if the player dies too many times, many add more things to do with fish like, a shop or something similar. Ambience sound help too.
-Player attack sound plays every click not every attack.
-I'm not sure if this is intentional, the player can still attack while jumping.
Overall, good experience!

Wow, I love the "fake" beginning, where you're thrust into running through the storm and then you experience the calm. It's really clever how you basically leave it up to the player how long they wanna wait, by fishing and gaining courage. It's really impressive how you got it all done in a week. I only had two issues, one is that the controls are a bit weird to get my head around. The other issue is that sometimes I couldn't judge what would make me trip and fall when I'm running through the storm.

This game is just brilliant! From the gameplay to the design, everything feels perfectly crafted. It’s an immersive, fun experience that really stands out.
I really enjoyed this game! Genuinely sat here for 30 minutes and played the whole thing! I really enjoyed the 'calm' sections where you just sit and fish for a minute. If I had any feedback, it would be to make the enemy sprites more interesting, with a little more variety maybe.

fantastic game love fishing games but this added a new aspect. would love to see you give it a bit more polish on maybe a small song in the background during combat and more sound effects to give the gameplay that satisfying feel when hitting something, tripping over objects and when they shoot at you. great first game keep up the good work

The player sprite, player animations and environment look good. Consider respawning the player back at the campfire. I don't want to walk there and back again every time. The fishing stops being fun after 5th death.
If the sign is the thing that's incompatible with controller input, you might be able to fix it by calling grab_focus() on one of the buttons.
