How does your game fit the theme?
The game is all about traversing a dangerous hotel filled with physical doors which the player must push open to slowly reveal rooms, which could be filled with loot or with danger.

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes, all code/assets were made during duration of the jam. Some external QOL packages were used however from the Unity package store.

This is such an ambitious project for a game-jam, the amount of stuff you've added is crazy and to me was actually overwhelming

It took me a while to understand what I'm doing besides running away from whatever is coming after me, and this in itself was fun and atmospheric

But then having the items and crafting, props to making all of this but I could not really figure out what to do with all of this so I ended up always dying to too many enemies

So if I sum up all to one sentence it would be make it easier with less mechanics that make it simpler to understand

Obviously a lot of work went into this, really well done! sorry that I didn't manage to fully understand the game

At least you gave it more than one try. As a quick rundown, the items are generally not meant to be necessary but simply minor additions to the gameplay. For most items, simply left click to use them and you can use the inspect to figure out what they do(Although the repair kit is a bit useless). Items like the upgraded lamp and especially the axe can make the game much easier, but are as a result quite expensive to get and take some time to gather all the resources. Until you get those, it is a game largely about trying to evade enemies and most, especially the later ones, have unique weaknesses and mechanics which you can use to better evade them. Thank you for playing our game!

Sincerely,
Henry_Hamster.

It's a bit too difficult for me, I wish there was an easier mode

Overall, it was fun, has a nice atmosphere

Developer(+1)

That's definitely something we realized at our last minute playtesting, but sadly wasn't able to get to. I hope that it was still enjoyable anyways, and just to put it here, there are many paths you can take to the goal, and some do not have as many creatures than others. This game isn't meant to be won in one attempt, but by improving and learning patterns(including for enemies) bit by bit.  Regardless, thanks for playing and have a great remaining game jam.

This was super atmospheric. Loved the enemy design and the lighting system to give it that horror feel. Audio was also minimalistic but great. I did get a bit confused about what actions to use for what item and I got stuck at one point between the enemy and a wall and couldn't move. Was really enjoying it though. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the feedback, but I'm a bit confused about the getting stuck part since the player and enemies can walk through each other. Could you maybe explain what happened in a bit more detail so we can fix it for the future? Thank you!

Yes absolutely. I was walking around the halls and opened my menu to use an item while backed against a wall.  I saw the enemy only when he was right on top of me because of your wonderful lighting, and when I left the menu I could no longer move.

Developer

Hm... which enemy was it(the like human without head, the blue wolf, or any other one)? I'll try to recreate it. Thank you for the help bugcatching.

The headless human. It could have also been the death state bugging out too since I didn't pay that close attention to my health and it could have been low at the time.

It looks cool, it feels nice, and the idea of only being able to see what's in your flashlight is really nicely executed!

Well done!
