How does your game fit the theme?
The player cannot complete the game without buying upgrades after finding treasures, to be able to dive deeper. To complete the game, you must be... Diving Deeper!

NOTE: We updated the build because of a game breaking UI bug making it unplayable on startup. Be fair on points with this information and notice the bugs we left in for you to enjoy like backwards swimming sharks :D. We did not use any extra time to fix other stuff in the game.

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
All assets and code are made just for this project.
Excluding the music file @Copyright 'LofiCafe'.

Awesome art work! A low oxygen or pressure indicator would be nice, like have it flash red or something, otherwise great work!

Sharks, why does it always have to be sharks!

Things I enjoyed ✔️

  1. The different creatures added to the variety of the game!
  2. I loved the sprite work! It was very well done! Great work!
  3. The gameplay was pretty fun!

Things I would like to possibly see with your title. 🤷‍♂️

  1. Fixing some sprite hit colliders is the main point, because I wouldn't even be close to an enemy and I would get hit.
  2. Id recommend getting the player into the different types of species later, in other words have the harder fish deeper down, because it is kind of discouraging not being able to catch most of the fish at the beginning.

Overall 📓

Great work on this game!  I had so much fun playing it! This is one of my favorite games of the jam! Great job! You should be proud of yourself!

Taking that comment with us to improve the game! :) Amazing feedback thank you!

Hi, I saw in the description you guys fixed a UI bug that wasn't letting people start the game. I believe it is still happening here. I downloaded from the Download button on this page, which says it was updated 1 day ago.

Developer

Could you share us a screenshot? You should have an installer of the game instead of a zip file is that correct?

Submitted(+1)

I tried installing again to take the screenshot and it worked this time. I tried twice yesterday through the .exe installer and got the background without the UI. But now I got all the fruits :D

I love this game, nice visuals and gameplay mechanics

This is a great, polished game, with appealing visuals and nice music.

Things that I would think about improving: The game doesn't communicate how deep you can go so you are diving and then randomly you die. It also doesn't show what you can pickup with net and what will kill you when you try to pick it up. Also the upgrade islands changing based on what you select in the map is an interesting but a little unintuitive mechanic. But all of these things can be learned by just playing and with trial and error, so it isn't really a problem, just me nitpicking a little.

Overall the game made a good impression on me, well done!

Developer

We'll improve on this feedback! thanks for the good pointers we missed during development! And better to be nitpicking so we can improve so very appreciated! Thanks

Cool, fun to looking for treasures. Didn't found how to find a shop to buy something.

Developer

Sorry to hear, buying upgrades was just 'enter' key again.

Really good game, more mechanics then the other games of this type, good job.

Developer

Thanks, lovely to hear that we stand out somehow :)

It is a funny game , looks like fishing frenzy style,

but it needs more innovation , there is hundreds of people

that submitted games in style of "fish under ocean", right,

regards.

Love the graphics and sound effects. May be music can be changed. But it is not yours so it is okay I know it is hard to find one :) Finding upgrades a bit hard. It's hard to find a complete game on jam so congrats. Keep it up!

Overall I really like the art style, and the gameplay loop centered around exploration is really cool! It took me a long time to figure out how to buy upgrades, and it was a little frustrating having to move slowly towards the upgrade islands one at a time, so maybe a centralized shop area would be nice. Also, the hitboxes on the spikey guys are deceptively big and always caught me off guard. It seems like 2 of the levels are missing wall hitboxes underwater? And I couldn't reach the mysterious fourth upgrade because the island leading to it walled me off. And pressing G to win the game at the end took me a very long time to figure out lol. Maybe if you just automatically won when you talk to the questgiver?

Even despite running into these issues I had a lot of fun exploring the ocean and finding treasure!! Very good job with this!!

Developer

Thank you very much for this great comment on how we can improve. Going to see what you did and try my best to rate is as expressive as possible :) Thanks!

I really enjoyed the art style, fun game!

Do you mind rating my game if you have a chance? Thanks!

It's a very nice game, the artstyle has so much personality! But I have a few critiques, mainly the fact that the hitboxes of enemies are very large, and you tend to die a lot because of it. Also, it could use a visual or audio warning for when you are about to run out of oxygen or pressure is too high, as I didn't notice how low I could go at the beginning. Also, hazards aren't very clear: there are some smaller fishes that can kill you, although others you can just grab with the net, also ambient hazards through the map aren't as obvious. The voiceover could be nice, but I quickly got tired of hearing it over and over when dying, but I could see it implemented better and less repetitively in the game, as it actually adds to the overall personality of it!

Also I couldn't figure out how upgrades work (but maybe I'm just stoopid lol), but for the rest the game explains the controls flawlessly.

Overall great game, could use some polish, but very full of personality and that's a thing I love! :D

We'll take all of that info and working points with us for the next jam, see you there aswell! Thanks for playing, you have a great game aswell!
PS: Buying upgrades was also on 'enter' but we missed the controls ui in the shop, very true! :D

Really complete game. It really deserves more attention. The lofi mixed with a cute aesthetic makes it really likable.

I don't know if its a bug, but I couldn't get to the island selling energy upgrades.

Developer

Yes it's a bug, and thanks for the nice comment! We want to figure out the UI bug which is kinda breaking the game. Good for letting us know about the random collider we have in the scene.

What a lovely game! Super cute artstyle. Submarine movement feels great and the level design of the 3 routes is AMAZING! Also the sounds in the background fit the scene very well.
