Not a bad game. Simple graphics and convenient controls

I really enjoyed this! I thought the level design was really well done (although I only made it to level 3). It was varied enough to not get boring, and it was exciting to discover different environments and enemy types when advancing through levels. My only criticism is that the platforming did not feel great, I would get caught on corners pretty often.

Developer

Thank you for the comment! I'll have to figure out how to get the platforming to behave with ledges better, and not jitter when you hit a ceiling. Glad you liked the progression of the levels!

A lot of fun and has some great art as well. Some of the sound mixing was too loud for me (the enemy death sound) but I liked the effects. I think I soft-locked myself on the third level. I didn't explore the entire top-most section but I mined out the blocks which would have let me jump up there, and I'm unable to find another route or enough loot to fill the quota. Despite this I think the levels are well designed to be engaging to explore

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! I'm not sure if I put any points in the third level aside from the bunch at the very end, where then you can backtrack through the towers using the pickaxe powerup you get in the crates there. I'll have to check if there's a way to get stuck, or for the last loot cache to not give enough points somehow: there is a known bug where pickups sometimes double themselves, but i'm not sure how that would cause it. Thank you for the feedback on the sound mixing as well! it was my first time doing it on this scale, so thank you for letting me know where stuff was too harsh. A volume slider is definitely on the to do list, lol

Great job with this!  your levels were well thought out, I felt that the difficulty progressed at a good pace.  The sound effects were up there with the best.

I had a couple issues with the jumping mechanic, especially on the stairs.  If there was a ceiling and I was trying to go up the stairs I would hit the ceiling then fall before I could get up the step and got stuck on the ledge couldn't move, and then would fall back down.

I loved the upgrades, and the sprite designs for everything.  Great job with all the artwork.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! I do wish I had been able to clean up the jumping before submitting, but i'm glad you still enjoyed it nonetheless!

Digging Deeper! ⛏️

Things I enjoyed ✔️

  1. The gameplay was so much fun!
  2. Art style is fantastic! Not only the art style but the animations, the sound effects! Wow!
  3. Gameplay loop was very fun! I liked the enemies!

Things I would like to possibly see with your title. 🤷‍♂️

  1. A small crosshair or outline of where your mining would be nice!

Overall 📓

This is a phenomenal game! I have rated 100+ games and yours is the 3rd one ive rated 5 stars across the board! So great job! You should be very proud of this game! 5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Thank you so much for the kind words! This was my first time really designing a gameplay loop like this, so I'm very happy you think so highly of it. If I ever keep developing it, cleaning up the platforming and adding a crosshair are first on the priority list.

Please! Because this is so polished! I’d love to see more!

Wow! Great work on the game mate. I like the level layout and the animation of the character (and the pickaxe) It is very clear what is expected from me. I would have liked to know earlier in the game that I should aim with my cursor. I realised this in the second level. Lighting also feels good
Congrats!

Thank you for the feedback! I'd have liked to implement a crosshair that hovers over the block you're going to mine, but I ran out of time sadly. Glad you had a good time with it!
