Cool ideas and I love the claymation! However, I had some issues with the controls, especially with the leap attack, which felt very unresponsive and would only occur after clicking more than twice. The "Load Game" option also didn't work for me.
Thank you for the feedback! Yes the controls need some polishing, I'm working on improving them for the next version.
Not sure why the load game didn't work, sorry about that, I'll investigate for the next build and make sure it's more reliable
I really, really liked the atmosphere of this game, the art and the music are outstanding. I also liked the story behind the game a lot, the Spearmen, protectors of the wolrd makes you really root for them and want to beat the bosses. Overall, a nice, unique entry, great job!
Unique and fun! Nice entry!
Unusual visual style, well done
I honestly think that this game has the best art I've seen in many gamejams, the story is very good and the music and sounds effects are amazing, maybe the gameplay needs polishing a little, but imagining all the work that there is apart from that, it is understandable, well done :D
Thank you for playing and the lovely feedback!
Loved the art style that you went for, and I very much liked your take on the theme!
Thank you very much!
Great game. Love the art and music. I was genuinely scared of the sun god. My dudes kept jumping into the boss instead of throwing the spears. Sometimes, the bosses would move and then kill the guys without giving enough reaction time to dodge. Maybe give a second leeway? Anyway, I loved it, maybe the most unique art in the jam.
Thanks very much for the kind feedback! The attack patterns and controls are definitely something I want to tweak, they're almost there but there are for sure times when something goes wrong and it isn't the player's mistake, which doesn't feel very fair. I'm planning to upload a new build after the jam which will hopefully have improved the feeling of this. Thanks again!
Stop-motion based and Clay-pilled.
Creativity really drives the game, but orange guys really want to end their lives fast, because from time to time instead of throwing a spear, they strive to jump on the enemy themselves. Cool concept and very unique visuals!
Thank you very much for playing and commenting! The controls and collisions definitely need a bit of tweaking, the next build after the jam ends will hopefully feel a bit tighter and the Spearmen will fight a little more cautiously 馃槄
Love the claymation incorporation.
THank you!
the Claymation inspiration is so awesome, the battle music was also inspiring. it felt like there was an urgency to beat these enemies. the movement was hard to get at first but i am usually bad with movement in games. overall a beautiful and fun game!
Delighted to hear you found the music inspiring :D
Very unique submission. Interesting mechanics. I really liked the clay characters, although the moon guy is going to give me nightmares. I also liked that it had lore. Pretty fun! One little thing is that I would have liked the spearmen to follow my mouse when holding left click. Other then that very enjoyable and unique game!
Thank you for your lovely feedback! The Spearmen following the mouse is a really cool idea - I might try to incorporate that into the next build :)
The collision and the attack patterns can use some polishing but I don't even want to say anything as this game is so unique and so fresh, I really like the art style and the direction you went with, Great Job.
Thanks so much! Yes I've got quite a lot of tweaking and polishing to do for a second version to upload after the jam has finished, but thank you for having a go and for your kind feedback :)
A 1 in a kind game style! I'm impressed with the creativity! Well done!
Thank you very much!
Love the art style but not too sure on the gameplay, I think I would like more animation but good work :) I had a glitch after the tutorial though where the characters disappeared when the enemy appeared but then it wouldn't do anything else so I was just staring at the background
Thank you for playing and giving feedback! I'd definitely like to add more complex animations to the gameplay in future - stop motion is slow work 馃槄 Sorry about the bug, I've seen that one before but I thought I'd squashed it... Hopefully you got to have another go :)
Yeah its very hard work haha! Have you seen Harvery Crumpet by any chance? (And the making of)
I haven't but I'll check it out - thanks!
This game is very fun. I love the art style. I loved your take on the theme. Good job.
Thank you for the kind words and for playing!
Loved your take on the art visuals! I have yet to see a game like that before.
Thanks so much! I'd love to play yours but unfortunately I'm using a chromebook at the moment and can't download it; I'll try and get a chance to play it on a different computer before the voting ends :)
Loved the Claymation-like art direction! pretty good for the gameplay overall 3.8/5 Great job!
at first I read it as The Spermen lol
The story and Intro is so long and not skipable~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The game idea and gameplay mechanic are not bad, but control is not so good( Both attack and move with the mouse make it so hard to dodge anything)
Thank you for your feedback! The controls can be a tricky to get used to; you have to be standing still to shoot so dodging things takes a bit of forward planning based on what's heading your way. The leap also gives you 0.5 seconds of i-frames. Having said that they're a looong way from perfect and definitely a big thing I want to improve in future.
It is quite a story-heavy game, a lot of the dialogue (the talking head scenes) can be skipped by double clicking. I've put an instruction saying that on the game page now because I hadn't put it anywhere before, so thank you for pointing it out!
Thanks for trying it out and commenting :)
