These are some impressive visuals. Everything glows and there are great particle effects. Additionally, what you did with the title screen was really cool. It's tough getting the ai to just play the game on its own (I've done something similar in a game before). Cool touch having that happen in the background.
There are a few things I'll give criticism on though. The game could've used some kind of explanation/tutorial. Additionally, spawn rates on enemies didn't ramp up at all. This means the game didn't have any sort of inevitability and could drag on. Finally, it was unclear what was going on with speed at first. A bit more of a gradual increase in speed as you lose health would've made the "less health is more speed" relation clearer.
I did like the mechanic of "less health is more speed". More speed at first is really helpful. However, as you take more damage, it becomes too much.
Good job with your game.
Thanks for your feedback.
I have answered to a lot of constructive criticism like yours, so you can read my replies to others as well to get the full picture.
But this was my first game jam and I had my exams hanging like a dark cloud, so I could not do as much as I wanted.
but thanks for your feedback and I wish you all the best :D
cool, i think it would look better if you toned down the glow effect a bit. and like the other guy said, definitely have more feedback for when you get hit. also i think there should be a way to heal yourself, it would make the game more interesting cuz your speed would also go down
Cool mechanics for the game, very simple to understand, I love the minimalistic game art with glowing effects.
For some criticisms I would be better if there was an indicator for the player if its off screen. It would've felt a bit better if there was some sound effect when you shoot the enemies and a scoreboard.
If you're going to make a update on the game, I suggest adding a shield mechanic, like for example when you hold down right click.
Not sure if I removed it but I accidentally submitted my comment twice XD
I see, thanks. :D
As for the off screen thing, I added Box colliders which were to be ignored by enemies, but I don't think I saved that before Building lol.
And I was so Late at night and I just did not have time to make SFX so yeah...
Thanks you SO much for this feedback.
Good Luck with your game :)
Cool top-down shooting game, very simple, yet fun use of the theme! There is still lots of room for improvement though:
There are not enough sound/visual effects for feedback when you get hit, you just can’t properly notice it when you’re really fast. Adding sound effects and some mild camera shake will improve the game by a lot.
There are no boundaries and you can go outside of the viewport. You could make the camera follow the player, or add boundaries near the sides of the camera to limit the players moving area.
The game gets boring a little too quick. Add more weapon variety or some kind of progression, perhaps even an online leaderboard.
Take these suggestions as something to look for in the future, if you’re planning to continue the game. Other than that, the game was great, and if this was your first game jam game, then this is a very good game for a first one 👍
Yes, I knew all these Points would come but:
1) I added Box colliders which were to be ignored by enemies, but I don't think I saved that, so it didn't register the changes before building.
2) And I was so Late at night and I just did not have time to make any progress in sound design. Just managed to make the BGM for this.
3) And yes, I know that the environment is quite unresponsive to firing and taking damage, but I had a ton of work and school projects IRL that I just didn't get enough time. And I was working hard on videos for my YT channel, so didn't get all the time I wanted.
4)Would love to add more stuff :)
Thanks a TON for your feedback and tbh, you sound extremely honest with your opinions, so I'll take the fact that you loved my game as a sincere compliment. Thank you :)
nice game, but its a little annoying that you cant hold the shoot button. i liked it!
Thanks for your feedback :)
I really enjoyed the music and the overall look of the game, very nice use of particles and simple shapes/colors to make something that looks good.
Thank you, it definitely means a LOT.
:D
