Oh my dear lord I hate you ahah this was so good. I've been trying to make scary games before but it's not as easy as it may seem and you nailed it. Also this dot effect with the black and white based on lighting? It's so beautiful, if you have a tutorial or an hint on how to work with that effect I'd love to hear. Anyway back to the game, absolutely loved the mood, the graphics, additional points for making me feel like I was in space with the windows. Hope to see you in next jams :)
Thank you so much! The effect is known as Dithering, you should be able to find tutorials online about it! I was actually inspired by the game "Return of the Obra Dinn" to use it. If you're interested in the technicalities, I did this specific effect in Unity's URP like this:
1. Make the scene black and white with a Global Volume
2. Make a Dither shader + material with Shader Graph
3. Make a Blit Render Feature to render the visual output using the Dither material
4. Tweak Fog and Ambient Lighting in the Lighting settings to reduce vision
Hope this helps, and thanks again!
Really great atmosphere. Love the space ambience, the subtle ship sound effects along with your footsteps really do set the mood. Then, of course, there is the Imposter sneaking up on you more and more as the game progresses. Did you do all these SFX yourself? If so, I'd love to know how you did it!
I think you've used the black-and-white limitation well, and I also think this game would do really well in a horror themed jam (like I said the mood is great).
Solid game overall, really enjoyed it!
Thanks, I'm glad you really appreciate the sound design! I've worked with horror before, so I managed to salvage some assets from there, and I took some sounds straight from Among Us as well. Some sounds are my own, e.g. the voice is done by distorting my voice heavily in Audacity! Finally, I use Unity's Timeline and Animation Events to sync up the audio in-game ✌️
Dear Lord how did you make this in a week. The atmosphere gave me chills throughout and when I was in electrical and the doors locked I just accepted that that was where I died. I got so panicked I Had trouble navigating. But on top of that the artstlyle was great with the dithering effect, the ambient music was nice and the sound effects were spine tingling. PLEASE make this this into a full game with all the maps and better AI eventually, I'm not to much of a horror fan but I know people who would kill for a game like this.
Really liked the game, first it felt hard to know where I were and where I had to go but a good experience after all, congrats!
Really cool stuff, I played through it twice! The second time I wanted to see if I could actually meet the enemy before you reach the button, but I couldn't. I was lowkey hoping he'd actually be walking around ><
Loaded fine for me (MacOS + Firefox). The pixelated b&w shaders look soooo good. I wandered around for 10+ min and the navigation was a bit too tough for me (maybe a slightly faster movement speed would help?) but I love the atmosphere.
