Cool and Awesome Game! the menu design is so perfect especially the games artstyle and music!!

Developer(+1)

Thx ! I'm really proud of the musics as I made them in a short time and they came out pretty well !

I quite liked this one! I find myself wishing you got more use out of the gimmick, since the three rooms that do use it are fun to navigate. Using the top-down perspective primarily as a dodging mechanism rather than just maneuvering through the levels is a really nice touch, as if it were a cooldown ability instead of a feature. Honestly I came to love it. I enjoy how it looks, I like how it sounds, overall I'm happy to have played it

The game, however, is also really hard. I don't mind hard games in the slightest but there were times where it felt hard in an unfair way. Think of the loading screen, where most UFOs hang on the left side so you miss their health pickups, combined with the fact that they heal like... 8%? You're more than likely going to lose that to an exploding enemy in the following three seconds, which on that note, are pretty uncompromising in their own right. I really don't think they should be allowed to jump, for one. They go really fast and explode really faster in a pretty wide radius, which is difficult to account for when you're also dodging UFO bullets in a confined space. If you let up on keeping the UFOs down for a moment, you die. There's too many chaotic elements on screen to track and staying in the groove is tough. It's much harder than the boss, and the boss is respectably difficult! The only issue I had with it was sometimes getting totally screwed by the cursors popping in when I'm in a corner, and I personally would've let the battery recharge a little more there.

My only other sore spot would be that the space bar really also needs to be bound to jump, rather than being stuck on W. Caused most of my deaths. Further, the charged shot needs an indicator or even just a sound when it's fully charged up--could never quite get into the rhythm of it. But as a base, it has a strong idea, and a pretty good boss. Would love to see you develop this further--good job!

Thx a lot for this review ! I think I know how to solve these problems, like in the loading screen, increasing the cooldown of the small enemies, increasing the amount of healing to 15%. For the charged bullet, I didn't have enough time to think about a better boolean system to play the sound at the right moment and only once, but when the jam will be over I'll rethink it. And yeah, adding the spacebar as a jump would be more of an addon than removing something so it will be worth adding it. Again thank you a lot for your review, I'm glad to see people play my game !

Cool game! Tbh Idk why but when I downloaded it Windows took it like a threat!
If you can make the next game to be playable in browser it will surelly have more reviews, I saw that you put it like a ZIP too, now tbh idk how to make a game to turn to a browser one because I used GDevelop and it turns automatically for you to be played in browser and you just need to upload it. I will like to see future games from you!

Thank you ! Was fun to do it. I tried to do a web version (I'm on Godot), but I had trouble with this as the buttons at the menu would not redirect the player to the levels, the scenes, it stays stuck in the main menu. Next time, I'll try to do a web version that works, it would be easier to play !

Was able to beat the game, very fun. The visuals are nice and the music was really cool and cinematic. The boss fight was also awesome. My only problem was with the elevator section, it's just way too long and difficult, more so than the boss and I also wished the changing perspectives mechanic was implemented more, it's just too short to make an impact. But other than that amazing game

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thx a lot ! And yeah I wanted to match the music with the level and for the difficulty, the first version was too easy, so I made it harder, it was too hard, so I made it easier, it was too easy so I made a little harder, but I think less harder would have been better xD. Probably increasing the cooldown of spawning enemies would be enough. And for the perspectives mechanics, at first, I wanted to do this for all the map, but it took too much time (I implemented it on the last day of submission, before the submission time was delayed by 12 hours), so I kept it but only for "locked" parts of the map.

The game is really ineresting i loved it but that one enemy in the bridge was really hard tbh, BTW it's still great,

can you check my game and give it a feedback!

Developer(+1)

Thx and yeah its fire rate is short, I didn't know if it was good or not as you can shoot the bombs to make them explode. I'm checking all the games (12/48 for now), I'll review yours !

This game was really fun to play, especially the final boss fight. I'm surprised you got all of the content in with just a week.

Developer

Thx ! Well, there were a lot of things that were cut (options menu, tutorial, a mini map, etc), but it was faster than I thought. It's only the sprites that took me a lot of time, otherwise the code and the conception was quite fast to do.

Really fun! I didn't really have any issues with it, keep it up!

I can't jump over that cliff in the begining. And as you can see I got bottle on the left, so I know how to double jump. It is nice to have ability to shoot as fast as my finger allow. But I am sad that I stuck in the begining of the game.

Also I recomend to make web version of the game. As I can see there is a games on this gamejam made on godot which works in browser.

Developer(+1)

You can get to the other cliff by double jumping where the bottle was. The more you hold the jump, higher you jump, if you pressed then released directly, it will do a short jump. Also, you can use the charged attack of the weapon (right click) to "boost" you. I'm sorry, I kinda knew that maybe I had to do some tutorial to introduce the double jump and the charged attack, but I ran out of time...

And I tied to do a web version, but the game stuck on the beginning when I clicked the buttons and didn't know how to fix it.
