I read the description and just wanted to say at least you tried and submitted something so take pride in that. I do think the movement of the game is an interesting idea with the movement from vertical to horizontal and vise versa.

How does your game represent Mode?
(Almost :c) Everything has two modes!

Never apologize for the quality. You submitted a game that kinda works and that's basically a win in itself. Jams are something you do to learn more about game making and not to appease your audience. Learn from this and do better next time!
The comments are a good point to start, I'll add a few things: you don't necessarily need to put a tutorial in the game if you're short on time, just write it in the game description, add a few screenshots maybe (this can be done AFTER submitting). You also don't need to be concerned with how long your game is, you can treat it as proof of concept, so this is perfectly acceptable. On the game itself, I hope you're not too discouraged from continuing. Keep it up!
I'd say the main thing it could use is some sort of tutorial. Either way, great job finishing something!
Good on you for trying! Submitting an incomplete or imperfect jam game is part of the process, right? Looking forward to the next one!
I don't what I just played... But it was certainly entertaining to look at lol. I respect you 100% for trying, I was tempted to give up during the jam a few times myself.
Nice effort! It sounds like you're not super happy with results based on your description so I won't provide too many detailed suggestions. I'll just say that I think the concept could be interesting (switching between vertical/horizontal only movement modes), but the final product was a bit confusing. In particular it took me a while to figure out how to kill the enemies.. Regardless, getting anything submitted is an accomplishment!
