Those nasty pirates stole all my gold the first playthrough but I made them pay :D
made it to wave 16. losing was painful, when you see those pirates inexorably bring that last gold ever closer to the exit.
You managed to work in "chain reaction" and "Rust" which is awesome :D Loved the various sea shanty variations too
Very fun yet surprisingly morbid game with a unique take on the theme, and I learned something new! Loved the jaunty tunes as the pirates marched to their death, definitely helped stop the game feeling too dark. The trade-off between trying to fit in one long chain versus the flexibility of multiple short chains was interesting, as well as the choices between the different perks and downsides. The game did get a little buggy at one point with pirates floating through chains when I had a lot of Fool’s Gold in the later levels. In the end, I managed to make a pretty successful design, but I was unable to progress past the next upgrade screen (presumably because it had nowhere left to place any more trees or crates):
We were a little concerned with the, ahem, morbidity as you put it but glad our vibes distracted from that.
You are exactly right about why the game effectively crashes at that point. Of course we found this bug first thing the morning after the deadline 😅 We have decided that this is just an unsatisfying win screen now, so congrats on your win!
Very nice game! The ability to remove or move chains would also be a helpful feature.
Originally the chains were going to rust and break down, but game jams and deadlines and all that. Thanks for the kind words and thanks for playing!
Nice idea and it was well implemented. A control to speed up time would have been great.
Thanks for playing! Great idea, and would be a fun to work that through with Bevy time stuff.
