i was a little annoyed that i could soft brick the progression by increasing power beyond capacity. it would be ok with some ui to help visualize this. also the power bar doesn't make sense (unless it is shared but i don't think it is ?).
still had to go and see the end, so it's a success in my books.
with that stat going down to 0% i wasn't sure if i was doing well or not. seems like the only way to really clear dandelions was with rabbits. I did not understand the use for flames either. Music loop a bit too short.
Still the idea wasn't bad, and i wanted to see a level 3, but couldn't reach it despite seeing the victory screen for level 2 multiple times.
Reached wave 8, then abandoned the game. Difficulty should increase. I'd like to see maybe some skin around the cells, so you can see where the next wave is coming from, instead of relying on the white cells movement, which feels a bit cheaty. White cells should die after absorbing a number of viruses too. And i'd like to see something that prevents the white cells clumping up too much, i think that would make it more strategic.
some effort went into this, but i experienced technical difficulties. At first i didn't know how to click on the cards. Turns out i had to click on the top of these. then the mouse was very floaty/laggy. I think the bevy team added something for that particular problem https://github.com/bevyengine/bevy-website/commit/14fbf1e1681aa71a6446d26d301538... Too bad i can't see your code, i'm curious about that issue.
Anyways good atmosphere in that game, and nice transitions.
actually i investigated a little bit. And here is the trouble ... I'm playing on my main monitor which is 4k, with a 1080. Most games are ok with that, but that's like 4 times more pixels to fill than regular 1980x1024. I had my daughter play the game (yes it's that good), she played it in on the other screen (regular size this one), and it was silky smooth. It's not the first game i have this issue with, some of them go around the issue by rendering on a smaller image, then displaying that scaled up. Still, the game is nice, but i think that kind of fidelity should work at 4k, tho maybe not for a jam game =)
Hey someone else made the same game ! (https://itch.io/jam/bevy-jam-6/rate/3624746)
They had AI so you lose on that front ... but then again their AI beat me, so you win after all !
Nice graphics, simple but good enough. controls are good too. simple puzzles, but that's what's needed. I would'nt have added red rails before they're actually required (except maybe at that crossing room). And i regret the absence of any kind of audio.
All in all a very good submission, one of the best.
haha that music man... silly just in the right way =) ... gameplay is very good too. If something had to be said, i would complain about the boomerang going through walls, tho i'm not sure how to fix this and still have the boomerang coming back in all cases. Oh and game is way too short, I want more !
Awesome game =)
