Felt almost like Michael Dudikoff in American Ninja 1-2 :)  .      So, seriously, neat little game, nice to splash the baddy ninjas with shurikens.  But like kiddolink said, more juice and action is recommended.  Nice starter project, IMHO.

I liked the game! Working on gamepad was a big plus for me. I have some suggestions to spice up the game a little bit. You don't need to take them seriously, they are just ideas that crossed my mind while playing:

  • The shurikens could be faster! Also, the color of the shurikens should be very distinct. The enemy's shuriken could be very different from the player's in hue. In fact, I wouldn't mind if they were pink, blue or red!
  • How about a melee attack as well for the ninja? That would be very cool!
  • One way to make a variety of enemies by recycling resources is: change colors, sizes and speed;
  • The waves could automatically start, without the need to press the red button. How about a timer? Then you could show a text in the screen showing the seconds: 5, 4, 3... 1 Go! Or something like that;
  • I know its hard to make music, but there is a trick to make reasonably acceptable ones for fast-paced games. The secret is the beat! Put the tempo high and go crazy (maybe not so crazy) with the beats. Then it becomes easy to lay down some chords and put a melody on top (it can be a variation of the chords, with small changes);

Nice game, good job!

Thanks for the feedback, I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the game! To comment on a few of these points:

The enemies used to throw neon shurikens, but it made the game confusing and visually cluttered to I took it back down to just gray.

I wanted a melee attack, but I sort of ran out of time and it just didn't really end up happening.

Originally, the waves started on their own, but I felt like it was better for pacing to give the player a moment to catch their breath and look around for upgrades between the waves, especially the later ones.

That's a good tip for the music, I'll keep that in mind for my next game!

The only game so far that I made it until the end, was very fun to play I didnt find the theme at all but the game is very good, the scaling, the power ups and everything feels right, well done!

Thanks! The neon element is supposed to be in the ninja himself, he becomes more brightly colored as the game goes on and shoots neon shurikens. The late-game enemies have some neon elements as well, but I agree that fitting the theme is the area where my game struggles the most.

Edit: The enemies used to throw brightly-colored shurikens as well to help the neon theme, but I removed these near the end of the deadline as it caused too much visual clutter.

Passed. As a result, I became the destroyer of everything, so the boss didn't even inflict a single wound on me. Easily. I simply did not see half of the opponents, since they were destroyed behind the screen.

Well done. Simple but tasteful. =)

Thanks! The feeling of being overpowered was my intention, but I think I may have overdone it a little lol

I like the enemy fighting part, but I think there was a bug that made the boss spawn immediately unless that was intended. He came right at the beginning of wave 1. The little red guys are fun to fight and I like that you have different shurikens! Good job! :)

Oh Geez, you're right! ZIP file has been replaced with a fixed version, if you'd like to try again :)

I tried again and got to Wave 14 I think. That was so much fun, I really loved it! Maybe I would say you could make the enemy shurikens a very obvious color, that doesn’t match the background as much, but aside from that I don’t think there were too many issues!

Very cute game. I can tell this game is a bit rough, including the boss has more health than a Dark Souls boss, but It shows promise. Good Job!

Thanks! Yeah, I threw together the boss at the last minute because I felt the last wave needed to be something more then just enemy spam. Were you able to beat him in the end?

Developer(+1)

Hey, it seems the boss spawned earlier then intended due to a bug, which has now been fixed. If you could try again, I'd appreciate it! Sorry for the confusion.
