Feels good that all the components I expect are there, but feels a little slow and awkward. Also feels bad not to have the “class” ability unlocked out the gate, I chose the bow and had to wait until the level up to use the color spray arrows.

Time played: 1h
I'm always amazed how isometric games can be so immersive by removing all the craps from what is considered essential in modern diablo, I'm excited to wait for what would be the final product. How you going to review the metagame? would you consider multiclass the way to go or ultra specialize build can work too?

1)the mouse cursor in the main menu for some reason was over the writing, probably easy to fix
2)while increasing my statistics I accidentally added a wrong stat and I wanted to revert it, an idea would be to have both + and - buttons and another on the bottom to "apply" to confirm

a personal feature I would like to see in the game is clear feedback on hit confirm, I like to understand how much damage is dealt by just looking at how flashy is my hit or how big is the blood splat, I already like when enemies become more bruised the more you hit to check how much HP they have left, the less I have to see at floating numbers the better.

this being a true tribute to D1 should aim to add as many QOL as possible without feeling needlessly clunky but more importantly not spoiling what was the creepy atmosphere of playing D1 for the first time.

I was hoping to beat the game again but I encountered some issues regarding the game's performance. This is as far as I'll go this time because the framerate is terrible and I can't reliably aim at small enemies anymore but it was working completely fine until now. However, going up/down the stairs isn't fixing it.

At least I finally tried 2 handed weapons. The trade-off of lower defense and passives for higher attack rating is generally worth it for a melee focused character, although the charge could be more juicy. I think Tower of Kalemonvo is a little like Divine Divinity where you want to start as a ranged warrior and transition to a melee build with spells later on later on.

As you can see, I have a lot of potions. It's all thanks to the little yellow ring over there. I find that using the golden idol to merge accessories is the best and they last the whole game unlike other pieces of equipment. Lifesteal and +X mana on kill are the best passives by far.

I also dropped a skullcap with busted stats in the first level after the password, I think they are bugged because the very next level they start dropping at half the stats. Mine is a 16 dodge, 16 armor which is crazy for this part of the game.

I also found a bug where you can get stuck in place and unable to move or attack. I triggered it in the first level after opening and closing a door a bunch of times while kiting some enemies but I couldn't recreate it. Teleporting didn't fix the issue either.

Another minor issue has to do with the fleshpriest enemies, they are strangely passive. Sometimes I can walk right besides them and they don't mind me. I guess they like me.

I saw the new moon lady enemies. They look pretty good, perhaps too good in fact, but that might just be my innate resistance to chance speaking. I also like the cloth physics.

Those were all the issues I found this time around. The game is still really fun in general. I can't wait to reach that orb.

thanks for playing bakar!!

the framerate issues are new to me. is it in burrows only? was the previous level fine? it says youre hitting 59, which isn't that bad. does the framerate tank despite it saying 59?

the skullcap uses the stats from another helmet, it's fixed internally. oops.

>I also found a bug where you can get stuck in place and unable to move or attack.

i found out what this is, but not what causes it. i'll simply bandaid this tomorrow morning and hope that fixes it. for some reason this never happened to me and i have no idea why. maybe something tied to FPS..?

Developer

i tested performance with la_fafafa, it looks like he also has a lot of FPS drips in the middle of the burrows. i'll investigate when i wake up, thanks for the heads up

I made a new character, this time using slow spell to keep distance and dispatch enemies. I remember beating a big knight guarding a chest with that spell. I played until I hit a power spike on the enemies, in the level with chimeras.

Didn't saw any bug... but I find a cheat?, the merchant who give stuff in exchange of silver skulls, can reroll the store by reducing your mana 2 points. Well if you save before that reroll, you can savescum until you obtain something good. Old games worked like that but I don't if want that, so I report it.

The game is fun, I liked the capes and the new models of the enemies. You really nailed the Diablo 1-2 style. If someone miss playing those game they gonna love yours.

Also, nice new enemy, she was powerful and fast  and killed me the first time I met her, and of course.... she steal my heart :3

thank you for playing!

Yeah, it's sort of intended. The game really is designed around playing ironman (no saves) so that stuff can't be done with that setting, but i allowed it for the default game mode - you can cheat if you want to but you dont have to. I didn't want to restrict that from players and it was too annoying to keep track of what the shop can roll, etc.

>Also, nice new enemy, she was powerful and fast  and killed me the first time I met her, and of course.... she steal my heart :3

Thank you so much for the art and i am very glad you liked her! I think she is currently my favorite enemy, even if she will only show up a few times in the game. Im glad she's memorable :)

thanks again for playing!

as a gamer, i'm a fan. I love the graphics, enemy design, old-school gameplay, and everything. As a fellow game dev, I'm a bit intimidated. It's incredible for a single dev.

TOK my beloved, lvl 1 fireball still useless in comparison to the wand, replace it by socking discharge please. Also got freeze in walking animatio, can't launch spell or actually move. (will upload the video on catmoe when the site is up again)

Developer

fireball is not really meant to be a wizard spell - it's for people who don't use wands. it scales good though!

curious to what the bug is though

thanks for playing!

tl;dr: good, didnt find anything game/experience breaking. only thing  iquit early because i couldnt find the entrance to the next floor.

main loop is good=> slashie, gear&upgrades, explore on repeat

sfx/music/art needs no comment coz you know the state they are in.

found some weird stuff with pathfinding but thats not game breaking.

since last DD:
added 3 levels, 1 done, 2 WIP

as always, skip if you played last DD

i'll also include some saves :   https://files.catbox.moe/sjnn3a.zip

you got 2 INT-builds and 2 STR-builds at the same locations: save1 is at the end of the demo and save2 is before the Paladin Camp.

have fun!
