The gun 'crafting' is very cool! I feel like that will add a lot of replay value.

I did find the screen got visually confusing because it seems like enemies and their projectiles are sometimes blue, sometimes red, sometimes white. So once things got pretty wild, I would lose track of where my white ship was.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback. And yes, I'm aware that it's easy to lose track of the ship sometimes, but I'm not sure how I'm supposed to solve it.

Submitted

Perhaps make the ship glow a little bit with a distinct color and then give it a glowing trail as it moves? Then it would be trackable when it's moving quickly. But that might be too much, just spitballing

Developer

Trails sound like a good idea.

A bit punishing at first, but the weapon upgrades really make you feel powerful. I had fun playing this, great job!

I did kept getting stuck at the top and bottom of the frame FYI, see the video

Developer

Oh man, it's a pity you played it minutes before I uploaded an update with a new enemy. Getting stuck probably happens because you click outside the screen, game loses focus, then you release the movement key, click back, and the game thinks that the movement key is still held. I'm gonna do something about it, yes.

Also, you don't need to keep clicking, you can just hold LMB, and the gun will shoot as quickly as it can.

Anyway, thanks for the feedback!

Played till wave 80.

I really had a lot of fun with this game, oddly satisfying. Mashing all the fire rate, shot multiplier, one homing and a couple of piercing was enough to breeze through the enemies. The SPI modifier is stupidly powerful and I got like 5 of them.

The only time I found more than one gun useful was for testing purposes and then falling back to my main gun for survival. If the menu appeared when holding left click, sometimes the browser selected the text on the top.

Developer

Thanks.

Wow, 80 levels and you didn't get bored?

Yeah, "Spi" is OP and will get nerfed. Also, I'm gonna balance(or at least try to) the game so that you'll have to use multiple weapons for different enemies. Menu will also get reworked.

I was looking for more SPI modifiers and zoned out. Stopped because I went through 15 waves without finding any and they got difficult enough that I needed to actually move my ship from time to time to end the levels in 100 hp.

Very fun and simple to play

Do the ricochet modifiers stack?

Interested in seeing where this goes with enemy varieties and modifiers. Eager to see maybe (if they're not already in the game), spread shots, shields, aoe weapons, etc

Developer

Thanks. For now, everything stacks. Shields are not gonna happen, except for enemies. Spread shot is already there("Sca" modifier), and so is  technically AOE, cause you can make bigger bullets with "Co" and let them hit multiple targets with "Pi", but that's not really it.

Nice Game, I really like the weapon modification mechanic. I don't really like that at a certain point I just sit on my one powerful gun and have a ton of wasted modifcators lying around, as I don't see the need to ever switch guns. I'd like it more if I could fire all my guns at the same time.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback. I'm aware of these issues, and am already working on fixing them. Firstly, I'll add a system for upgrading modifiers: you take three mods of the same type and merge them together getting one mod, that's twice more powerful. Sure, you're losing a mod, but you're saving a lot of space.

Or you can take three mods of same rarity and swap them for a single rarer mod.

As for overpowered guns and gun switching, that's gonna take a lot of balancing to fix. While new enemy types can also help, I can't think of an enemy that couldn't be able to be defeated by sheer power. I'll probably add some drawbacks and synergies to mods.

And shooting all guns simultaneously is not gonna happen.

Cool game!
Controls are nice and very responsive, nice stylized graphics, gameplay is smooth.
Died when mobs started to respawn after they all were dead. Didn't see my hp bar, cause the game window was too big for my tiny ass display, please, add a fullscreen mode that will autoscale for such displays.
By the feeling game let me live long forgiving enough mistakes.

Developer

What is your screen resolution?

Submitted

it is 1366x768

Developer(+1)

Try it now. There should be a button in the right bottom corner to open the game in full screen.

Submitted

Thanks, it works just fine now. This time I went to the 25th level.
More complaints: sometimes when I shoot too many bullets it is really hard to read my current position, and when the background goes red-colored I often barely see enemy bullets, although it is good I can destroy them.

Developer

Yeah, maybe I should render the player's ship with subtractive blending, or give it a different color. Also recolor enemies' bullets so that they're brighter.
