I remember playing this game last Demo Day and loving it and I still do after playing it today. It feels like the same game for the most part altho it's pretty obvious you did change some stuff but I honestly don't remember that much from last DD. Haven't finished the dragon yet tho, one of these days I'm gonna try again.

Some problems I found with it is that the restart button is broken, when I pressed it it did nothing and then a bit later it did something but whenever I'd restart the game, after dealing the cards, it would restart again so that was annoying.

Oh, and you still didn't add a quit button. Why didn't you add a quit button yet?

Anyway, nice game and I hope to live to play it when it's finished.

Thanks for playing! I should probably fix those bugs

  • I played on 1366x768 (no bully) and the text was thin and hard to read. I played an earlier version and think I had an easier time reading with that font.
  • When I press restart game in the action phase, it only restarts once I finish playing actions, and then goes into a loop where it immediately restarts again once it finishes dealing.

I haven't played many deckbuilding games (or card games in general), but I found it pretty fun.  That I consistently lost at the bottom of the dragon's lair probably means that RNG doesn't unfairly affect outcomes.

Also it would be cool if you set the execute permission on the linux executable.

I'll try and improve the text some more for next version, probably bump up the size some more.

The restart thing is known to be broken in that you have to finish whatever action you're on, but shouldn't loop, I'll have to look into that more.

Thanks for playing!

This time I wanted to go for the goblers.

First round ended in failure close to the final encounter(using the new clipboard function to share the pain): https://pastebin.com/fx1f9ksb

Second round ended similarly but I recognized the power of shields: https://pastebin.com/eiDSqzRE

Third time's the charm: https://pastebin.com/WnQR84Uy

I see you rebalanced the cards somewhat, I think the bedrolls used to give +1 Action too, that threw me off at first. I think I like the rebalancing better though, it doesn't feel like there's a gamebreaker card anymore. I had a harder time getting XP this time around, though that may be because it's the goblin level with more enemies at a time.

You also went back to the continuous dungeon layout, which means you can't run away from monsters anymore. I'm not sure how I feel about that, I actually liked the feeling when you're getting overwhelmed and finally find that escape card that saves you. On the other hand choosing from cards lets you get more strategical with the way you're going about it, it's a hard pick.

Either way, it's still fun and still has that addictive loop where you want to keep coming back to beat it, still love it.

The launcher allows many different resolutions but the layout is fucked if you don't choose one with 16:9 aspect ratio (I played on Linux)

Developer

oh yeah, I've only set it up for that, I'll try and restrict starting resolutions in future builds. You should be able to drag the window to fix it at least
